Question about 1993 Honda Civic 4 Door

1 Answer

1996 honda Before we noticed the temperature gauge up we first saw antifreeze on the ground. The antifreeze leaked out, but we don't know where most of it went. Both fans come on when the A/C is on. When the car is ideling and gets hot the fans do not come on but smoke comes from them instead and the temperature gauge goes up. What could be the problem?

You know the fans are ok most honda have a two terminal switch at the right corner bottom of tthe radiator if you put a jumper across this terminal the fans should kick in, this indicates that the coolant temp sensor is bad replace it, secondly some honda have a temp sensor located right on the thermostat housing and you can disconnect the wire and just ground the wire and the fan should come on so replace the temp switch last thing to check for is coolant leak around the readiator seem i mean the edges the radiator being fiber glass may have hair crack through which antifreeZe keeps leaking out the only suggestion for honda is to replace the radiator.

the outside temp could be the outside sensor, if you don't worry about knowing the outside temp its no problem, the oil leak is something to look into and repair

Well I guess you know the engine is overheating, this means death to the engine if you are driving it this way. Seek out a repair shop and have the problem diagnosed and hope you haven't blown out the engine head gaskets

03 impala temp fluct then overheats

It sounds like your water pump is shot. The small antifreeze leak is the coolant probably coming from the weep hole on the water pump. If you ran the car while the temperature was up, you may have to watch the head gaskets from now on as they may be shot. Water pumps wear out around 100k to 150k miles usually.

Have a 1996 buick skylark, temperature gauge is running hot - losing antifreeze but not seeing anything on the ground? funny smell. car running fine. nothing looks disturbed under the hood. any...

if you don`t see any coolant on the ground then you could have a bad head gasket that is leaking into the combustion chamber and being burnt, this will also cause a smell.it could be an external leak as well you don`t say how often you have to top up the rad.the leak may be running down the side of the block and being evaporated before it hits the ground and causing the smell.you should have the cooling system pressure tested to see if anything shows up and have a combustion chamber test done on the cooling system to check for a bad head gasket.

Conway residents say someone is poisoning their pets."Some antifreeze tastes really good to a pet and they may drink it willingly, so if they have access to it there may be no limit to what they take in. I hope you don't live there. You may just have a leaking hose or a leaking thermostat housing (4 cyl). Get someone to check and get it fixed soon as you may ruin the engine. Fixing the leak will be cheaper then buying another engine.

Hii I'm new to cars. My 92 prelude gauge still

Hello,

I understand being new to cars, but that is ok. I am hear to help you. Some cars run hot, that is normal in a lot of cars. As long as it does not go into the red or way over the half way point your ok. But this is what I would do, this will make sure that car water temp/engine temp is working properly. First of all check your engine oil and make sure it is full at the dip stick. And then do the same with your radiator, make sure it is full with antifreeze. Also, you can have the antifreeze checked, they can test it, to make sure the right mixture of antifreeze and water are proper mixture. If not enough antifreeze compared to water ratio is off, then that can cause some over heating or possible over heating issues. So, in conclusion: first things to check is engine oil level and antifreeze level and mixture. I hope this helps you, thanks mike, expert fix ya man.

Sounds like you have a coolant leak from either the radiator or a hose.
