Probably replacing the speed sensor on the transmission.Have the codes read, even if the light is not on. Look at the pending codes. The fuel gauge would be the sending unit in the tank. That act funny like that sometimes.
You most likely have a failing fuel level sending unit which is located inside the fuel tank. The sender wears a bit as the float arm moves up and down with normal fuel level variations and this wear can result in a guage that reads erratically. Many of the fuel level senders are now only sold as a part of the fuel pump module so if it turns out that it is indeed the sender you may have to replace the entire pump module. Hope this helps!
you need to verify that you have voltage going to the sending unit, about 5volts=dim test light,if you do now jump the two wires together and see if your gauge goes to full,if your gauge goes to full its not gauge or wires but only your new sending unit.
sending unit on fuel pump is bad, the sending unit shorts out gauge will go to empty or full, never read right, turn on switch ,it goes to full or empty, ,check the pump, hope this helps, thanks robert b.
you have a broken sending unit . it could probably be located inside the tank. must be replaced. can not be repaired. have a sending unit ready and bring down the tank then replace it.
