Question about 1999 Lexus RX 300
The Display Screen on my 1999 RX300 Lexus quit working all the time and the dealer check it out and said it was bad. Since I didn't want to spend $1,800.00 for a new one, I got one on eBay and installed it. It is lite up but blank of any information. Now, not even the clock will display. It there something that needs to be reset when these LCD's are replaced? The replacement screen is good and worked in the other vehicle.

SOURCE: cd changer not playing
Check fuses. There are two fuses to this stereo. One that hold memory for the clock and stereo preset buttons and one for turning the stereo on. There are usually two fuse boxes, on inside the vehicle and one under the hood near the car's battery. Again, check ALL fuses. One is usually labeled for the radio/stereo, the other is not.
As for the CD changer, disconnect one of the main car battery terminals for several minutes. This is easier then removing the changer and acts as a reset. Possibley bringing the changer back to working condition. Otherwise, this could be a repair issue, see www.carstereohelp.com

If it is running perfectly I wouldn't think that you would need to replace the timing belt. You shouldn't need to replace that until 100,000-120,000 miles. I would definitely hold off until now unless you have start having some timing problems. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

I had similar problem in 2001 rx300. Every morning the clock
will reset to 1:00. Sometime this will happen when I started the engine. The Lexus dealership replaced the car battery. According to the mechanic, The Rx300 are very current sensitive system and even though The existing battery was 3 years old the cold weather made the current go below the allowed limit. That makes the clock reset to 1:00. After replacing the Car battery, the problem when away

Testimonial: "Thanks Rockwave 69 that fixed the problem. Also a good indication of when the battery needs replacing."
