2005 Honda CRV won't start

My wife just called and is stranded in a parking lot because our 2005 Honda CRV won't start. When she puts the key in the ignition, the beeping sound is in full swing but as she tries to start it, she gets the famous clicking sound. Does this sound like the starter in a car that is only three years old and well maintained? Could it be the battery?
Help asap if possible. Thanks!
Robert

One last request. Doing a little research online for parts and see a Ignition Starter Switch listed. Is this the same thing as the Starter Solenoid you mentioned?

If the clicking sound is coming from the engine compartment, it is the starter solenoid. let her try it a couple of times. sometimes it would connect and start the car. then she can bring it home.

nope. the starter ignition switch is where you put your key and turn it to start. that would seems to be good since it is producing this clicking sound. the solenoid is in the starter itself. it is a round part attached to the big cylindrical starter.

    tnx again,

Try this procedure:
Check the battery like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.
If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
Check that the battery cable plus post, goes to the starter, Minus post to a good ground, like the engine.
If wiring is ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter.
Problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear or starting relay, Have someone bang on the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging the bendix gear..
Hope this helps.

Beeping sound in 2005 nissan murano

Mine did the same thing. I had the battery replaced on the controller.and it still beeped. Then I took my key and put it in the ignition, without turning the key and took it out. Did this like 6 times and the long beep finally stopped.

Honda crv 04' key won't turn over & I'm stranded

if your battery isnt dead (try boosting it) then check to make sure the car is in park all the way and try again if nothing happens you need a new starter. alot of people dont put the shifter all the way back to park and that keeps it from starting.

The battery in my 1998 Honda CRV works fine. Had a problem with the key sticking, now the key turns in the ignition but won't catch to start the car. Not sure what to do

Sounds like the ignition switch is worn out(or the linkage from the lock cylinder to the switch has come loose or something like that)

My wifes 2001 Honda Odysseys battery did in a parking lot. Mall security hooked up the jumpstart cables wrong (I guess) now it won't start at all. Could he have overloaded the fuse? and is there

you need to look at the fuses in the under hood fuse box f you look at the center of the fuse and see if the line is broken in the center if so its bad

2001 honda crv I'm driving but can't take key out of ignition in Park could drive but key is stuck won't come out

Sounds like you need a new ignition. If its really stuck you will have to get a replacement key and a new ignition. Usually not to expensive and any competant shop can swap it for you. You also might want to check the neutral safety switch. That is the only switch that has to do with your drive park position.

WHEN DRIVING MY '97 CR-V CAME TO STOP PUT IT IN PARK BUT IT STAYED IN DRIVE HAD TO TURN IF OFF, KEY STUCK IN IGNITION HAD TO UNHOOK BATTERY, UNABLE TO GET IT OUT OF DRIVE

Could be the ignition switch. Honda issued a recall on 1997 CRV ignitions in 2002.
Go to www.ahm-ownerlink.com and under quick tasks, click on the Get Recall Information.

1999 Honda CRV Wont Start. It turns over just fine but won't "catch". I put my key in the dash board maintenance schedule whole and it started...worked fine for a week. Now won't start again. ...

I am having the same problem as you wish new what it is.
My wife lost her keys, we tried starting car with the spare key but it winds over but won't start. Found the keys an hr later tried the old keys and it started. Maybe some problem with the keys and the ignition.
