open the boot lid and gently run a hose on the back glass(do not allow any water to flow over the boot seal) Have some one do this while you check around the window drain area inside the boot and up in the mudguard areas checking for rust holes or cracks. Use talk powder in these areas to detect water trickles or feel with you fingers for wet areas . Check the steel lip that the seal is fixed on for rusted areas underneath it as water will get in these holes.

Hear water sounds in dashboard, but no water comes out

If you cannot detect any water coming out under the dash, or trickling down the floorboard under the carpet, then it is most likely you have an air bubble in your heater core.

This by itself isn't harmful, and if you can stand it, drive around with the heater full on to see if this will get rid of the air.

If it won't, then try this strange sounding trick. Park the car on the very steepest grade you can find, nose up. This will put the radiator cap higher than your in-dash heater core. Then remove the radiator cap, turn the heater or climate control to full heat, and run the motor until it reaches operating temperature. Hopefully you will see a big burp of air emerge!

I hear water sloshing around in the dash area of my 2007 grand prix. i assume the water comes off the windshield but do not know where the drain is to unclog

You shouldn't hear water sloshing around anywhere. Usually when water comes of the windscreen, it runs to the sides of the scuttle grill and then exits via the guards (fenders) and out on to the road.
The drains are on the left and right sides of most cars but usually you need to remove the inner guards to get to them. Once you find them, you'll need to probe them and remove the junk out of them.

Water is trickling in from somewhere on the left side of the rear cargo area, I have checked the seal around the hatch but that is intact. I have removed the interior panel but cannot see any trace or...

pull the inner panel loose and get a flashlight get in and shut the door down have someone with a hose or pitcher of water and start pouring or spraying it around the seals around the door then around the window also check to see if the rain gutter on the top is clean where it diverts water at the back top of the vehicle

I can hear water sloshing around at the left hand side of the dashbord.Checked the drain at bottom of windscreen not blocked. No sign of water dripping.

The 405 is renowned for having the heater matrix go bad and often it springs a leak woth an associated slooshing sound. Heater matrix is like a mini radiator which is fed by water from the engine and is located behind the dash.

It is located on the lower left hand side of the dashboard. If you look under the glove box and in towards the direction of the centre of the car you will just about see it. Check the area around passenger floor and closest to the centre console for any dampness on the carpet or signs of leaking. If this is evident you have found your problem.

One solution is replacement from breakers though companies can be found who specialise in radiator repair and if you can find one in your area this is an even better solution.

Slooshing water noise like you describe is sometimes associated with impending head gasket failure but I would check your carpets first for dampness and eliminate the heater matrix first owing to it being a known failure point on the 405.

Hope this helps.
