I have a 1994 5 speed Corolla. If i accelerate slowly, there doesn't seem to be much of a problem, however, if I try to accelerate quickly at all the RPMs go way and the car doesn't get any faster. It almost feels like the clutch is engaging when I try to accelerate fast.
FYI my clutch is set very high, it engages in the first few inches and doesn't disengage until the last few also.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the RPMs go way". If you meant that the RPM goes up high, then it sounds like the clutch is slipping. I think your model will have a hydraulic clutch, which is non-adjustable, so the clutch will need to be replaced. This sounds the most likely scenario, given the high clutch pedal take-up point you described. However, if you meant that the RPM's go away (or drop down), then it might be an ignition misfire, but I need more info.

Engine missing is a vast subject and calls for number of things to examine. What are the problem symptoms? Is it concerned with one or more of the following?
- Rough idle, stalls or misses.
- Engine hesitates/ poor acceleration.
- Engine diesels (runs after ignition switch is turned off).
- Muffler explosion (after fire) on deceleration only.
- Engine backfires.
- Engine rattles at idle speed only.
- Engine rattles at all speeds.
Please mention if there is some other symptom.
The Toyota of your year is equipt with a map sensor,it is located on the firewall with a vacuum line leading directly to the intake manifold, This sensor measure engine load and adjust fuel accordingly.This is definetly the problem,make sure the vacuum hose did not come out,Look at the underhood emission sticker for it,it Toyota has a different name for it it might be called boost sensor or pressure sensor.
Try changing the fuel filter. If it clogs up the engine won't get the fuel it needs to run at wide throttle openings, the engine will ****** the timing, and you'll lose power. With less throttle the filter can flow well enough for the engine to run properly.
Could be any number of things, lets eliminate the transmission. Put the car in park and throttle the engine, is it snappy then? Or does it slowly rev up? If it still runs funny or isn't snappy, the tranny is not the problem. So it could be, weak fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or a ditributor problem. Could be a sensor to, but I've had 4 corollas and have never had a MAF sensor or others go out yet. I have had problems with the items I listed.
