You will need to remove the device and send it in to a Ford approved repair center, sorry about the loss with the trip and all But there is nothing you can do to repair this problem.

How can I hook up my Ipod to the radio system inexpensively

If you don't have a cassette player, you can purchase an ipod/RCA adapter cable for about $10 and plug it into your aux inputs in the rear. The cable has one end that fits into your ipod headphone plug and the other end is a white and red pair of plugs (called RCA plugs)that will plug into the rear inputs.

DON'T REMOVE FACTRORY CONNECTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spend $15 and buy a wiring kit. It plugs right into your vechile wires and the kit tells you what wires are what. Splicing the wires will lead to headaces down the road!!!
