sounds like a hot and cold issue with either the transmission or transmission computer module. take to dealership and have them take a look. its possible you have something faulty in there. Also check to see if you have transmission fluild in it to proper levels.

12ht wont prime

filling the filters before installing will make priming go more quickly.
once the pump is primed crack open the fuse line at the injector while cranking until you have fuel pulsing out, close it then move on to the next injector.
keep doing this until the engine runs smoothly.
it may start running before all the injectors have been purged so keep clear of all moving parts and a fire extinguisher handy would be a good idea.

My truck starts and stalls and will not idle

Try increasing the idle speed. If you don't know, this is how to do it.
Open the bonnet and ask someone to push and release the gas pedal a five second intervals.
Observe which part is moving.
Yo will see a small adjustment screw on that lever. You will understand that by adjusting the screw you can increase the gas supply to the engine.
Slowly rotate the screw while the engine is running. (If the engine doesn't run in idle state as you have explained, ask someone to keep the pedal slightly pressed. After increasing the gas supply, ask the person to release the pedal).
Adjust it further to get a smooth running condition at idling.
Also check whether air cleaner is blocked.

Timing belt broke while driving will there be more damage ? it's a 1990 ford escort lx hatchback

All really depends how fast you was going when it snapped, the best thing to do is try turning the engine over slowly by hand to see if it moves freely and nothing is banging or knocking, if that is successful then you can try and just put a new belt on and see if it fires up and runs smooth,, but to be honest the chances of doing internal damage is imminent, could be cracked head bent valves ect but i would try the belt first before you start dismantling anything
Hope this helps

Why should I wait for 10 miutes to start my car smoothly.

start with a good tune up. fuel filter, air filter, plugs, cap rotor, and wires.make sure the plugs are the correct type. then clean the throttle body inlet, and add an additive to clean the fuel injectors.get a compression test on the engine to see if the cylinders are in balance.
