I lost my ignition key to my 1991 Buick century. Went to dealer and had 4 keys made. One key fits ignition. Buzzer sounds and interior light comes on but key will not turn. What could be the problem?

They probably used the wrong blank, and the cut wasn't exact. Any key from any car, if it fits in the hole, will activate buzzer. All that is happening there is the metal is completing the circuit. The key cut is completely different, and if it is chipped you have a different issue. The easiest fix is to pull the ignition out. It is fairly easy. And take to a locksmith to make your key. It will be around 60.00, but if you like the car, and the dealer isn't helping, its a good buy.

My key ignition on the scenic 2000 is worn out, so I fit a push button to start, but must turn the key manually back, however if key not in right position , it cuts out, even the dash won't light up,...

Hi Leon , this is a case of bitting the bullet and getting, at the very least a new key or maybe a new ignition switch completely, things that are worn out cannot be repaired just replaced

'94 GMC truck ignition stuck

Hi Jane, Your problem may be being caused by the bent key, but you may need to replace the ignition barrel and switch as it too may be defective. The barrel takes the key and at the working end (opposite side to where the key fits) is a rod which fits into the switch which turns the ignition on and off and operates the starter. I'm suspecting that it is either loose (the attachment screw may have become loose) worn or broken. Regards John

Dealer cut a new key for Pilot but it won't work

If the key fits mechanically, and the lock turns, then the key has been cut correctly. However if it just won't start the vehicle, then the transponder chip within the key will need programming. The dealer should have the equipment to do this. Do not accept a key that does not start the car - and certainly don't pay unless it does.

2004 jetta does nothing when key turned

these motors suffer from dodgy starter contacts on the ignition switch, turn key and all lights on,push car and it starts ok but no starter motor.??these switches are dear as its a complete unit with steering lock,if this is the fault then fit an old fashioned push button switch on dash ---sorted.If you say epc light on then this is immobiliser ,try spare key if that dont work then its a dealer job to reset immobiliser unless someone knows how to by-pass it.Havent done one yet so i dont know how too,but i itching to get my diesel oil covered grimed in black hands on one to try and pit my wit against a four eyed nerd that invented the immobiliser system.
