me too!!! Same problem on 2005 LS .. service parking brake warning, ac blowing hot regardless of temp

  • Anonymous Jan 18, 2009

Same thing, heater blows hot, runs high in spite of reducing temperature. Service "P" light on.

  • geneandleona Feb 18, 2009

I had the same problem (hot air coming out of dash vent no matter what climate control was set to) along with a service parking brake light. The hot air was caused by the dual coil water control valve. The dealer wanted $200 bucks for the part so I took it apart and blocked one of the coils from causing the problem. That's probably nt the best was to solve the problem but desperate times call for desperate measures. My wife can't control temperature to her side of the car seperately but doesn't complain. I think the parking warning light was just a coincidence and needs adjusting.

Having same prob on my 2005 LS, service P brake warning and hot air blows out even set at 60 with A/C on, should be cold but is hotter than when I have it set at 70 or 75, are these 2 problems correlated???

I have the same problem at 52K miles. Service parking brake light and hot air out of passanger side of a/c when set at 60 degrees

  • kmwhite Mar 24, 2009

I have a 2005 Sport and I have both of these problems as well, its constantly telling me to Service parking break, and navigation says something about parking break lead? Also, my AC doesn't work, no matter what you turn it on it blows hot. Seems to be a common thing after reading this?

  • pricanpride Mar 29, 2009

Disc brakes and Pads were changed a month ago, Service "P" brake light was lighting up at the time. Once new equipment installed, the same problem persists. Note: I sometimes notice a faint squeal when driving, like one of the brakes is sticking. I assume a bad caliper.

  • lwlamm May 20, 2009

I have the same problem on my 2005 Lincoln LS at about 52K miles. Service parking break light coming on after drive for a while and A/C is putting out hot air all the time no matter even when set to 60 degrees on both driver and passenger sides of car.

05 LS, i also have the same problem, heater blowing hot and parking brake light coming on. i just read that the malfunction from the (dual coil water control valve) will cause a spike in the system an will set off the parking brake light. The dealer wanted $645 w/tax to install a new water control valve Ford Part # 2R8Z18495AA, YEAH RIGHT !!!! I found the part on line for $110 w/shipping, i am going to install my self. Its sits behind the radiator passenger side about 6" deep from the fender. very easy to get to , one bolt, one sensor needs detached and the 3 heater hoses that go to it need clamped off before replacing it. As far as the brake light i read that you have to get the brake re-calibrated by the dealer, I dont know yet. If you want the web address for the part let me know. i also posted where to find your code for your door access on a 05 LS. dupd120@yahoo.com

There is adjustment in the switch in the hand brake assembly - which will eliminate this .you will have to remove cover in console to adjust - should be self elplanatory once you can see it. Drop me a line if still required - get a book at library it is covered.

I had a problem where super hot air blew out of the air vents no matter what the a/c was set to. It ended up being a couple of fuses.

My a/c is doing the same thing! I can live with the service parking brake light, just not the NO a/c!

SOURCE: parking brake warning light is on , how to fix

Look for the switch at the hand break lever and inspect the action. If it is sticking add lubricant (wd40 lanolin etc). In the case of the switch actuating with the light still on replace the switch. As for the cost at the dealer, only they can tell you that. Cheers Timo.

ABS light stays on if car is started with parking brake engaged.

The ABS light illuminates when there is an "out of specification" condition. From your description, it sounds like your parking brake cable may require tightening, or there may be an issue where the rear brakes are not properly releasing when the parking brake is released. With car that is nearly 20 years old, it is not inconceivable that the rear brakes and parking brake assembly may require regular service.

A good first step would be to have error codes read out by a local mechanic or auto parts store. This may give you a better indication of the specific problem. In any case, ANY brake warning should be taken VERY SERIOUSLY and corrected IMMEDIATELY, as you may have a potentially dangerous potential of catastrophic brake failure. PLEASE GET THE ISSUE FIXED RIGHT AWAY!

I have a 2008 buick enclave that I can't shift from the park position. It turns on fine with no warning lights.

Could be the brake switch or the shift lock solenoid.
You may be able to shift out of park by turning the key switch to the first notch and moving the shift lever. Make sure the brake is on to keep the vehicle from rolling. Once you are out of park, crank the engine in neutral.

How do I adjust the parking brake

Under the car on the drivers side you will see a threaded rod that goes through a saddle that goes off with two cables to the rear wheels, adjust the cable there using the adjustment nut.

Brake warning light.

If the light is on all the time, it could mean you simply forgot to release the parking (emergency) brake. The brake warning light remains on when the brake is set as a reminder. If the brake warning light remains on when the parking brake is released, then something is amiss.
In some cases, the brake warning light may remain on if the switch on the parking brake pedal or lever is misadjusted. Nothing is wrong with the brakes and a simple adjustment should fix the problem.
If the brake warning light comes on when you apply the brakes, or is on continuously, it means that hydraulic pressure has been lost in one side of the brake system or that the fluid level in the master cylinder is dangerously low (due to a leak somewhere in the brake system). In either case, the fluid level in the master cylinder should be checked. Adding brake fluid to the master cylinder reservoir may temporarily solve the problem. But if there's a leak, the new fluid will soon be lost and the warning light will come back on.

Apply the parking brake with the vehicle parked, engine turned off and transmission in Park. Release the parking brake completely, then apply it again, and ensure that it is fully released. Turn the ignition on, check to see if the Parking brake warning light is on. If it is NOT on, apply the parking brake and check to see if the warning light comes on. If the light come ON wihen the Parking brake is applied,.....fully release the parking brake and check if the warning light goes OFF. If it does NOT go off, then an adjustment is needed at the parking brake switch.

The exclamation light is an indicator that the transmission has a problem. Take it to a transmission place, for them to diagnose before it's too late.

There is a light on my dash it is a ! with a bunch of lines all around it. what is that light for?

According to the 2003 Ford TaurusOwners Manual:

"Brake system warning light: To confirm the brake system warning light is functional, it will
momentarily illuminate when the ignition is turned to the ON position when the engine is not running, or in a position between ON and START,
or by applying the parking brake when the ignition is turned to the ON position. If the brake system warning light does not illuminate at this
time, seek service immediately from your dealership. Illumination after releasing the parking brake indicates low brake fluid level and the brake
system should be inspected immediately by your servicing dealership."

In short, as your brake linings (pads and shoes) wear out, the brake fluid level in the reservoir goes down.

You're probably right at the point where the level gets low enough to turn on the warning only under specific circumstances (cornering? hard braking?).

You can top off the fluid for the short term, but you should have your brakes inspected fairly soon.
