I have the same problem. About three weeks ago we were driving the car without any indication of anything being wrong. We parked the car to shop for about 45 minutes and when I attempted to start the car nothing happened (no sound whatsoever, but the lights did work). After trying to start the car for about a 1/2 hour without success, we called AAA. We waited in the car for about 30-45 minutes until AAA arrived. When AAA arrived I explained to the man what had happened and got into the car to attempt a startup to demonstrate it was not working. Well guess what! To our embarrasment, on the very first turn of the key the car started.

The car worked fine until today when again it failed to start in the same way as before. Only this time after waiting the 30-45 minutes, the car has not started.

Any suggestions or assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would start by banging the bottom of the gas tank while you are cranking it over. If this causes it to start, replace the fuel pump. If it still doesn't start, there is a valve on the fuel rail on the top of the engine (you may have to remove plastic cover). Remove the plastic cap on the valve, and while you have someone cycle the ignition to the run position from the off position, depress the center tab on the valve and see if gas comes out. If it doesn't, replace the fuel pump. If it does, let me know and I will help you further. (note: replace fuel filer at same time.)

Dealer advised it may be the main relay moduel for honda its pgm-si part num. This part is easy to install and should not take but 5-10 min. located under the sterring colume pass. side.just pull off holder and pull wires connector than replace . i have a new one and will replace if problem continues. you can also try to turn ignition on but do not start wait for a minute then try to start.

Sounds like you have a weak battery, or possibly a bad alternator. The fact that you were able to drive it for 2 days before it died again leads me to believe that it is most likely the battery. You can test the battery by looking at voltage across the terminals when you try to start the car, if it\'s less than 12 volts your battery needs to be replaced. If your battery is more than 5 years old it should be replaced anyway. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Car won't turn over randomly

When it will not crank, a mechanic would check for voltage at the starter, the clutch safety switch, and the key switch.

first thing to do is to add a relay in your starter. relay should be connected to the solenoid of your starter then giving it addition amperes to let the starter motor running.

if adding a relay does not do the trick. replace the carbons bushings in your starter.

another problem should be your ignition timing. if you are experiencing hard starting only when the engine is hot, then your ignition timing is overly advanced.

Sometimes my 2008 sonata won't start back up after turning off engine, I have to wait at least 20-45 minutes for it to start back up. I hear 1 click when I turn the key and everything else seems to...

Sounds like it could be a similar issue to what I just went through. My car wouldn't start on two separate occasions after I had refilled my tank. First time happened a little over a month ago, the starter would crank, and crank, but no signs of life in the engine. Tested the spark plugs, I was getting spark, but the ****** wouldn't start.
Had it towed to the dealership, and they said after 4 long attempts, they got it to start. I took it home, and the next morning I couldn't start it again. Towed it back a second time, and it started right up for them. Drove it back home again and a a month later things started acting up again.
A few days ago the wife pulled the car out of the garage, where the car was level, stopped the car on our slanted driveway and when she came back to start it just minutes later, it hesitated, but did turn over. I filled up the tank and the very next morning, I could not start my car again.
Called for a tow from AAA, and the driver said "let me try something". Pulled out a hammer, and wacked the bottom of my gas tank 4 or 5 times. The tow guy gets in, tuns the ignition to engage the fuel pump (didn't turn the key all the way), he does this about 4 times, then the very next turn of the key it starts right up. The driver said it sounded like a bad fuel pump.
I drive the car back to the dealership (this is the third time) and talk to the same guy I had dealt with all along. He calls me later in the day to tell me they finally got it to not start and were able to isolate the problem to the fuel pump sensor. They replaced the fuel pump assembly and I was off and running.
Hope this helps!

This is a classic sign of a bad starter. When a starter is on its way out, it will usually start when cold. Once it heats up after a short trip or 2, it takes more and more power to get the starter to turn. If the truck will start with a jump when warm, you've confirmed that you have a bad starter.

1995 toyota 4 runner starting problem once in awhile

Is the starter turning over the engine when it wont start or is nothing happening at all?
I might have your solution if I have more details.
If the engine is turning over but not starting then switch on the ignition and push it to start. If it starts you probably need a new ignition switch.

Please get back to me .Thanks

Will not turn over at all

Hi, you need to either check that you have enough power, check that the starter is good, or check the starter relay to start. When you turn the key in the ignition do you hear clicking or anything?
