No dipstick. To check fluid level you have to raise car on a LEVEL rack and remove a plug on the back of the transmission. You add fluid by removing a plug on the top of the transmission.

Check transmission fluid 2005 chevy cobalt

Cobalt has a front engine front wheel drive layout. The transaxle has a dip stick that can be accessed from by opening the hood. The dip stick has markings on it indicating full/half//low oil level.

After about 10 miles the transaxle symbol flashes and have harsh shifts

park the car and locate the automatic transaxle oil dipstick and check the oil level is up to the min. level if its too less buy ATM oil and refill after refilling the oil to the max level and harsh shifting still the same you maye have to have your engine checked by a competent mechanic and check your transmission shift solinoid functions as well.

This is how you do it.

Ensure that the transaxle case temperature is 70° to 90° F (21° to 32° C). With the engine running, shift transmission through all gears. With engine idling in PARK, remove the check plug from the transmission. If transmission has been overfilled, allow fluid to drain out. If no fluid drains out, add fluid through the TRANS FLUID fill cap under the hood on the driver side in 1 pint (0.5 liter) increments until it slightly flows from the check plug. Reinstall the check plug.

Changing the transmission fluid

Once you've drained the transaxle by removing drain plug, re-install drain plug and torque to mfg. specs. To fill transaxle, you need a 5/8" square drive attached to a 9" extension, breaker bar or ratchet. Raise vehicle on hoist, or jack up and secure with jackstands. The fill plug is located above and slightly to the right of the location where the passenger side c.v. halfshaft enters the transaxle. Remove fill plug. Using a fluid exchange tool available at your local parts store, fill with automatic transmission/transaxle fluid available only from a Suzuki dealership, (part# ESSO LT 71141) until fluid starts to run out of fill hole, then replace fill plug, and torque to manufacturer specifications. I'm a former Suzuki technician. I hope this was helpful.
