Question about 1994 Chevrolet Astro

Van is getting gas and fire but will not start.

We parked the van in driveway, went to start it next morning would not start. We could not hear the fuel pump engage, so we replace the fuel pump and fuel filter. It is getting gas to the check valve under the doghouse. It shoots a stream of gas out now, before replacing the parts it just barely ran over the valve. It is getting blue fire to the coil, yellow fire to the plugs, and it will start with starting fluid but will die as soon as starting fluid burns off. Have not checked the injectors. I do not know what one looks like or how to check if one is clogged. Also if it is just one injector clogged would it keep van from starting? We have also been told to replace the EGR valve. Would that keep it from starting and is there a way to test it before replacing it, as it is very expensive to replace. Also man at parts store told us to pour a teaspoon of heave weight oil in each spark plug cylinder and it should start. Anyone ever heard of that before? I think that would just foul out all the plugs, not start the van. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated. We are pulling our hair out.

Would this fuse be in the fusebox or in with the ignition itself? I have checked all the fuses in the fusebox and they are all good. I will explore this in more depth.

However, does anyone know anything about the throttle body? Once gas gets to that point then where does it go, or should there be any gas in it at all. I have checked it while trying to start the van and no gasoline gets to that point.

I have a automatic transmission and my van will not go into drive or reverse..

Assuming it is a 4L60E trans. The first thing to do is change the filter & replace the fluid. Have the shop check the fluid pressure. Other than that there are numerous things that could cause your problem. Could be the torque convertor on it's way out. P.S.There is no timing belt in a transmission.

My 2002 chevy 1500 van , 4.3 liter v6, will not fire. ran great, no signs of trouble leding up to now. Cranks, cranks, & cranks but no sputter, fire, anything

I would check and be sure I had fire to the plugs and fuel to the throttle body. I read what you wrote about the fuel pump but then on the end of the description where you put gas in the van the pump might not be working. If so you could have a bad wire to the fuel pump or a plugged fuel filter. Once you verify those items I would pull the 02 sensor ahead of the catalytic converter in the exhaust and make sure the cat or muffler is not plugged. If they are it will put back pressure on the engine and not allow fuel into the cyl. to fire.

Engine turns over but will not fire

Probably a bad fuel pump. Known to fail from one turn of the key to the next.

Seems like it's not getting enough gas

It could be your fuel pump with your car not running right, the gas gauge thing i have no clue maybe the sensor inside the tank is messed up. or it could just be your fuel filter not doing its job. Htere are a few things it could be I would say Fuel Filter, Pump and maybe a vacume (spelling) problem, I would need to be there and hear it running or drive it to really figure out what it is

When you put the key into the "on" position, do you hear a hum? You may need to put your ear next to the filler tube for the fuel to hear the hum when you have an assistant turn key on. Determine if you have spark or not. If not, you have have a bad igntion module or ignition coil.
