Question about 2004 Volkswagen Golf

Interior light Hi I wondered if anyone can help? The interior light on my golf works - you can turn it on and off, but it does not work when set so that it comes on when the door opens! Any ideas Thanks

Thanks for that - I should have been more clear. We think it is the switch at fault as it doesn't stay down to the right side (which is the setting for having the lights on all the time), I know this is not the setting I need but it indicates a fault with the switch I think. The lights have individual switches also these work so it is not the bulbs. I can't work out how to take the panel off though to fix the switch?

    Thanks again

hi no problem on most of the lamp assembleys its a case of prying gently at the bulbs outer cover and it will prise out and give access to the bulbs and retaining screws that hold the lamp assemebley in if the switch feels as though its not clicking into place you will be right best of luck yates210456

Window, interior lights, car alarm and fuse keep on burning out

you have a short circuit or burned out wires somewhere, could be anywhere.
Try disconnecting the alarm, taking the bulb out of the interior lights, and putting in the fuse, if it blows again you know that the alarm or interior lights are not at fault, if it stays good replace the bulb and if it blows theres your faulty circuit, if it stays good then the windows are at fault.

The interior light on my vw golf r32 stays on when all doors and boot is closed? Where is the sensor located?

Hi, one of your door pressure switches are sticking or, may be disconnected or broken. these pressure switches are located within the inner side of each door frame. they are usually housed where the door hinges are located. you can replace these switches.

make sure it isnt a wiring issue before you buy new pressure switches.

Please rate and have a great day:)

One more thing. make sure the dome light(interior light), switch isn't set to ON. if its set to ON, it will continue to illuminate even if the doors are closed.

Interior light and diagnostic plug doesn't work

The data link gets it's power from fuse no. 3(20 amp) in the interior fuse panel, which also is the power for cig. lighter. This fuse gets it's power from fuse no. 103 in the battery junction box (50 amp).

For the interior lights the door adjar switches in the door send a signal to the GEM module. It then grounds the coil side of the interior lamp relay. The switch on the dash that you turn on manually also grounds the coil side of the interior lamp relay so that would mean that everyrhing after the GEM is ok.Are the lights not turning on from any door including the deck lid? If not then problem would have to be in the GEM module.

When opening front passenger door the interior lights don't come on

There is a switch in the door jamb that is a grounded switch if it is stuck than the lights will not turn on. If it is stuck shut I should say. This switch looks like a button not a regular switch. The button is spring loaded. Check that first. Also is it only with the rt frt door? or do other doors cause the same problem?
