on old cars, not told, fully you, if a/t or m/t box, auto or stick?
but on cars the sensor is named VSS, and is on tail of transmission output shaft ,.
on newer cars with ABS , abs 4 sensors are used at 4 wheels.
no engine told or transmission there.
no vin told.
vss is speed of axles turned by the transmission and is never ever and input shaft. sensor.
we can not see under your hood or behind the flywheel, at all
in the blind.
the SM shows it has 3 pins VSS so is not ABS
has power to it so is HALL sensors (very reliable)
if you scan the PCM (USA onlY) It will tell you it is bad if is.
PCM uses it, and cluster and cruise box. all 3.
sm qoutes
4 cylinder engine automatic.
Disconnect the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) wiring harness. The VSS is located on the rear of the transaxle case near the cooler line inlet.
no engine told not told is an automatic,
me not tossing coin 4 times sorry
That is not recommended, as it could cause transmission damage. Since you have a VTEC you should get a power boost at around 5000 rpm which should make climbing hills easier and not need a shift of the transmission.
There are two solutions for your engine.
1.Check the neutral safety switch.2.Check engine codes and replace the variable speed sensor. But you should have a transmission expert check it before you damage you engine from over revving.
Try checking your timing to solve the ping problem, your timing might be too far advanced. For the downshifting problem, I have this same issue on my odyssey, On the top of your efi manifold you will see 2 wires that control your throttle, One of them extends to the transmission and basically lets it know when you are pressing firmly on your gas pedal, telling it to downshift. I would adjust it so the cable has some more slack in it, therefore requiring a harder press on the pedal before downshift, and hopefully a sooner upshift. You can also slightly adjust idling problems if the van is running high while in park or drive while sitting. As for the gas vapor purge code, I would first try replacing the egr valve, its only a couple bucks and takes no more than 5 minutes.
you need to remove the whole transmission unit from the vehicle without removing the engine. It is quite tough and the transmission unit is quite heavy. you need to remove the suspension frame underneath the vehicle and the drive shafts as well.
If you check engine light is on - take your car to Advance Auto - they will check this for you for free most places. Due to the use of a computer in your car you must have this done to generate a CODE - this CODE will tell your mechanic and you plus me what the problem most likely is. Get the CODE and follow those instructions. Most likely then the other light will also go out.
Hi:
The first thing to do is to have someone check to see what code is tripping the check engine light. Most auto parts stores will do this for free. Check to make sure your transmission fluid is full, and clean. Sometimes a vehicle speed sensor can cause erratic transmission up shifting, but see what codes are tripped first
More work than it's worth,You would have to change the PCM, wire harnesses, maybe driveshafts, trans mounts. Would have to add a shifter console, because the car was never built with one. Somehow figure out the clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder, and who knows what else. I believe it would be a difficult task. Good luck, Honda Al
