Question about 1997 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

1997 Intrepid The click is coming from in the motor but I can't seem to figure out where. I'm sure it's coming from the back of the engine. The engine just fails right after the clicking sound comes.

You will have to check that the power supply to the engine is not switching off for some reason. It certainly sounds like an ignition relay but could be a few things. Can someone start the car while you isolate the click to its source?Do you have an immobiliser?

is it possible to pull that clicking part down and seeing if a replacement will fix it.Not sure what the part could be except relay and if replacement doesnt fix it it implies that that paticular relay circuit has a short circuit and is tripping out to protect the circuit

Can i put a 2001 dodge intrepid half shaft on a 1997 dodge intrepid? I have both cars and trying to gut one out for another

If the two cars have similar engine/trans setups, measure the half shafts with a tape measure to compare as much as possible. If they seem to be close enough, you can probably swap them.(Sometimes, minor design changes may alter the appearance of parts, but they will still work.)

My intrepid runs good but the engine lite stays on it runs an egr wire malfuntion and i replaced the egr check the wires and i cant figure out what is making the engine lite stay on i need help i cant...

Use a Auto Scanner tool, fallow step by step reading process, take note witch code number "show" as defective, possible sensor fail, after replaces erase code using your Auto Scanner.Do it the same if another code number come out.

Unless you have a code checker with a reset switch, the easiest way to reset the light is just to remove the negative battery terminal for several minutes. That will usually do it.

Also, you don't actually need a code checker to pull the codes. With the engine shut off, you can quickly turn the key back and forth twice between the OFF and RUN positions. On the third switch from off to run leave it in the run position. The engine light will flash one or more two-digit codes. For example, if the light blinks twice, then pauses, then blinks three more times that's error code 2-3.

I have a 97 Dodge Intrepid, with no warning at all one day this loud clicking sound which seems to come from under the valve cover. After changing oil it stopped but after driving it for awhile it comes...

By what you are explaining sounds like the "Lifters" have worn out, try putting a quart of "Lucas Oil" in it,is about $10-$12 at your local auto parts store, it will help reduce the noise considerably. Good Luck.

Radiator fans does not seem to come on

Have you checked the fuse yet? first have a look at that if not then it's the thermostat that needs to be checked, check the fan itself also and make sure the fan motor works.

How do I shut off a check engine light for a 1997 dodge intrepid sport?

You can generally reset them by disconnecting the negative battery cable for thirty minutes and then reconnecting. If it goes out and then comes back you still have issues that need to be fixed. If it does not clear it then you can go to Autozone and they can clear it for you with diagnostic tool.

Loud clicking/clanking noise on 200 Intrepid

Sounds like the motor is going out. 2.7s are bad about rod bearings going out. If you don't use the correct weight oil, and change it every 3K, they don't hold up too well.

Replacing a starter on a 1997 Dodge Intrepid

No, you can access the starter from the bottom of the engine without having to remove anything else. I replaced the starter on my 94 3.3 myself without having to remove anything else. Good Luck!!!!!
