Re: how to replace headlight bulbs 1999 chevy malibu
Everything worked as mentionned. Be carefull with the plastic in the winter. Make sure to use a flat screw driver and get it close to the slider and not on the edge. I cracked one of the tongues. Those L shaped slots are under the plastic cover with the two big plastic plugs that you also remove with the flat screw driver

Headlights grow dimmer by up to 20% over time and eventually burn out - for this reason, we recommend changing your headlights in pairs. Changing both headlight bulbs on your Malibu at the same time will allow both bulbs to have the same intensity and prevent the new headlight bulb from appearing brighter than the bulb on the opposite side. In some Chevrolets, the highbeam is the same bulb as the headlight and it is possible for the highbeam to work, but the headlight be burnt out even if they are the same bulb (and vise versa). Some Chevrolets have high intensity discharge headlights, sometimes referred to as xenon lights. These bulbs have a very high voltage that runs through them, even if the battery is disconnected. If your Malibu has this type of bulb, we do not recommend that you attempt to change it yourself.
When you change the headlight on your Malibu, it is important to not touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers because the oil from your fingertips will cause that part of the bulb to burn hotter, which significantly shortens the life of the bulb.
The headlight is a Halogen that comes out the back.
Find the wire harness and follow it to the back of the light to a rubber cover. Pull the rubber cover off the back and find a holder. Unscrew or releade the wire "spring" then pull out the old bulb.
BR SURE NOT to touch the glass part of the new bulb.....
Change headlights in 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic Open the hood and pull up on the two black tabs on either side of the lamp assembly. Pull the lamp assembly forward gently and unclip the wiring harness. Twist the socket counter-clockwise and remove it. The bulb should be removed by wiggling it. Install new bulb in its place and turn the socket back into place. Reconnect the wiring harness and return the lamp to its original position. Line up the holes in the lamp assembly to the round ends of the mounting pins, and press down on the two black tabs to hook the lamp assembly into place.
lift the hood locate back of headlight take hold of the black plastic peice that has wires going into to it and give it a turn .its a 1/4 turn and pull itll come out. the bulb is plugged in just unplug it when putting in the new bulb dont touch the glass with your hands or itll blow out use the cover thats on it to plugg back in then remove cover and put back together.
three wires on most bulbs but if only two with two connections on bulb and not one then it doesnt matter what way round.if only one connection on bulb then use a test light to find the live and put that to middle of bulb and the other to earth
