Question about 1983 Ford Fairmont

1 Answer

No Spark My 1994 EF Ford Fairmont Auto Sedan has no spark. I recently had to replace the belt and tensioner pully as it came off. I drove it around for a week with some squeking in the steering. then went to start it one day and there is no spark..It has a new battery and leads. Do EF's have a coil? or could it be the Cam angle sensor or Crank angle sensor? PLZ help....:(

I found the problem on my 1994 Ef Ford Fairmont, It was oil dripping into the Crank angle sensor so i just removed the crank angle sensor and cleaned it and now runs fine..:)

The Problem in my EF 1994 Ford Fairmont was the crank angle sensor causing it not to spark.

There can be a couple of causes for no spark.
Common problem - Ignition unit in distributor has failed - Replace distributor.
Common problem - Coil failure - Replace coil.
Common Problem - Stuck ECU relay - indicated by no pulsing of injectors and no spark - replace relay.

double check that you are going around the correct side of each pully,
rule of thumb the belt has a front "grooved" side and a back "flat" side the pullys will be set up the same, (flat with flat, groved with grooved)

How to replace an engine belt on an 1995

I have two Mercedes - one is 2000 E320 Wagon; other is 1999 E320 Sedan.

I replaced the serpentine belt on my 2000 Wagon today at 92,000 miles. I found that the Motorcraft JK6-947 could be purchased on Ebay for $12.99 plus $6.20 shipping. The old belt was a Goodyear Gatorback 4060940. My 1999 sedan has a Mercedes Benz 011 997 97 92 6K2390 EM7117 Gates belt made in Spain.

Here are the details of replacing the belt.

On the 2000 E320, a 17 mm bolt just under the belt going to the tension pulley will release the belt tension when turned counterclockwise. Removal of the belt was easy after using a 17 mm deep socket wrench similar to a spark plug socket. I made turning the bolt very easy by slipping a 4' pipe over the socket wrench handle. It is advisable to put the new belt LAST on the idler pulley that contacts the belt only on the smooth side.

You do not need todisturb theButton Torx bolt in the center of the tension pully.

The 1999 E320 uses a 15 mm bolt in the CENTER of the tension pulley. Otherwise the installation is the same as the 2000 E320.

Belt inst

For the 3.0L Vulcan, you have a tensioner that is located just below the power steering pully. Use a 15mm wrench or the 15mm shallow well socket that comes in a Serpentine Belt tool to push the tensioner toward the rear of the engine compartment. Take the old belt off and route the new belt. The belt begins at the crankshaft pully, goes under and around the a/c compressor, up around the power steering pump, around (with the flat edge) the idler pully, around the alternator, the flat edge then sits against the tensioner and back around to the water pump pully. You should have a belt routing diagram on the underside of the hood just above the serpentine pully assembly.

I am trying to replace the serpentine belt on my 1994 Ford Tbird LX. How do I remove the tension to allow me to remove the old belt?

You need to find the idler tension pully. This moves up and down with the aid of a large spring. Placing a large wrench on the nut in the middle of the tension pully, you will be able to move it up or down to release the belt and install it.

Serpentine Belt on a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2

If you have a book picture your are screwed. You do have a tensioner but it is between air con and powersteering pullys. In front from under you can put 15mm wrenchopend with a nother for leverage pull center bolt down to release tension. simple.
