Question about 2004 GMC Canyon

Battery going dead

Ok just the other day out of nowhere i went to start my truck and noticed that it was struggling to start as if the battery was going dead. Sure enough the next day wanted to go somewhere and truck wouldnt start and i had to get it jumped. What do i do? Is it electrical? Is this going to happen again when i buy another battery? How do i resolve this problem of mine, and it looks as if in alot of other canyons so i've read?

Mine did same gm told me it was my radar decto. i replaced my batt no more problems

98.3hombre battery went dead after a jump it wont start

JUMPS OK
AFTER JUMP WORKS AND DRIVING, AND STOP AND KEY OFF
IT WILL NOT CRANK.
did i guess right?
that means ,
check all fuses first. even the alt fuse (large)
1-battery bad? #1 top failure all cars.
2-Charge system bad. (is the charge/ batt warn lamp glowing when running car, bingo.????

3-or phantom drains. (if no crank just after stall then it not this) if drains while sleeping yes.

the tests are easy, a dirt cheap voltmeter
13.3v to 15v running is good charge system.
if 12v and falling not.

if the battery is bad, the charge system can shut down, so, the best practice is to try a know
good battery out of 2nd car, do you have battery to barrow, this is TOP CHOICE< not thinner wallet.

if the good battery fails then the charge system is failing (note I said system and not a part)
or the belt missing or slipping to the alternator.

btw the 4.3L PCM runs the alternator
PCM is engine brain.
btww, same true 2.2l engine.
the regulator is in the PCM.

so is the charge/bat lamp in cluster
on key on, lamp test
the jump start it , it runs
does the charge./batt.lamp go out.
id be all over that lamp, costs nothing to look.

could have damaged the ecu with the back lash of the battery termanals the fouling of the plugs there is a rubber seal at the bottom of the spark plug resess its part of the rocker box cover these could be leaking causing the plugs to be coverd in oil

Battery's are draining on a 2008 gmc duramax


Check all the interior lights in the truck, look at the visors which are the single biggest cayuse of the battery drain, look at night. Also Have the batteries tested, a shorted cell will draw them down as well. Never overlook the obvious.

My 86 prelude has a problem with starting. I recently put in a new starter and it went well for about a week then out of nowhere it just stopped starting... then a couple days later my dad started...


FIRST MAKE SURE YOU BATTERY AND CABLES ARE OK AND MAKE SURE YOUR GETTING POWER TO THE STARTER,SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE IGNITION SWITCH.

Ford Escape Hybrid goes dead if not driven for 3 days straight


I have the same problem with my 2007 Escape Hybrid... First experienced it about 1 year ago. The vehicle produces periodic sounds like an electric motor running for several seconds. I believe this is from the motor driven safety relay that disconnects and reconnects the high voltage hybrid battery when the vehicle is not in use. I also can hear a high frequency scream that sounds like a switching inverter power supply. If the vehicle is unused for a day or two the 12V battery is discharged and a jump is needed to start the engine. Ford service could not diagnose the problem. The +12V battery tested OK, but since it was almost 3 years old it was replaced anyway. This helped for a while, but the problem returned after I recently left the vehicle unused for several days. I know the battery is good, it tests OK and is less than one year old! Somewhat reluctant to go back to the same Ford service agency because of their previous failure to fix it. Please advise if you have found a solution or have additional information. This is the only problem I have ever had with the hybrid Escape, but it is very annoying. I am forced to carry a jumper battery to make sure I don't get stranded.

i have seen on more than one occasion the new ALT going bad after about a week or so you may want to check your charging system again and see if you can warr out the alt if it is bad
