The prob is the flex plate at the rear of the engine is broken or loose! Frankster016

You can check this by turning the engine back an forth with a socket wrench. Just needs to be turned an inch or so each way. Frankster016

You will find an inspection cover at the front bottom of the trans, the flex plate can then be seen. once this is off. Rather a big job to replace, as the tranny will need to be yanked out. You may want to consider taking it to a well equipped shop, they could do this in less than 2 hours! Frankster016

I have a 96 thunderbird that makes a loud whistling sound from air intake

If the noise is like a loud hoot or a wounded moose and you have a 4.6L engine then you need to update the iac intake tube. Ford basic part # 9H308. The turbulence that this tube creates makes you Idle air control resonate resulting in a hoot noise.

My 1994 Ford Thunderbird now smokes when I start it - no noises in the engine, but smokes like crazy. Check engine light is one now?

state what color the smoke is. White smoke is antifreeze. Gray smoke is fuel, and black smoke is oil. Also have the computer scanned so you know why the light is on.

2002 impreza RS Major oil leak

If you heard a loud knocking.....I'm sorry to say, I'd hope for the worst. It doesn't sound good that you lost that much oil.

But try to clean it with a steamer or with some brake clean. Put a little oil back in and see where it is coming from. If it runs out without starting the car.....then you have definitely cracked the block, or the oil pan.

Oil pan for 1993 thunderbird

No you done have to drop any thing, you just need a new oil pan and gasket for it, loose all bolts around the oil pan and you should be able to remove it, remember remove all the broken off of the old gasket very well before you apply a new one on with grease or gasket cilicon stuff then new oil pan, good luck.

78 Ford Thunderbird w/ 351 Windsor motor

You'll need to raise the engine to replace the oil pan. Take the trans./converter loose, remove the engine mounts, wiring, fuel line, and anything else that could be a problem with raising the engine. You can use 2 6 x 6's and place under the engine mounts and rest the engine on these. This should provide you with room to drop the pan.
