I have the very SAME problem!! I changed all my bulbs, changed the Brake Pedal Switch, fuses are all ok. There IS power, because the running lights work when I turn on the headlights. Reverse lights work, turn signals work....but NO brake lights.

1 week later I had smoke (smell of burning) come out of my AC vent, next to my headlight switch, which I then lost my headlights 10 minutes later driving on the highway at night! (Miami).

I took the dash apart and I do not see anything that is burnt. I will try replacing the headlight switch next. Help anyone??????

    Thank you in advance!

Brake lights dont work on 96 cheve k1500

I'd suspect the brake light switch.
I have a '93 that has the same problem.
Under the dash is a brake light switch that is mounted so when you push the brake pedal, the switch "opens" allowing a complete circuit to light the brake lights.
That switch is "cheap".
It can get out of adjustment, and can fail. You might be able to work it with your finger to test it.
Also check the wires to the switch.
Be blessed.

Both my brake lights dont go on on my 1994 chevy suburban 1500 i have changed both bulbs but still do not work Please HELP!!

First check the fuse and replace if it is blown. If fuse is OK, then it sounds like the brake light switch has failed. It is located on a bracket under the dash near the top of the brake pedal arm. You could put a bridging wire across the terminals to confirm if the switch is out and the rest of the wiring is OK. If the lights then work replace the switch.

To remove switch, disconnect wiring, loosen locknut and unscrew switch. Replacement is reverse procedure. To adjust, screw in switch until operating button is fully depressed by pedal arm, tighten locknut and reconnect wires. Check for correct operation of lights.

check out the brake light switch located on the brake peddle. Could be out of adjustment or burned out.
