If you cant find the cams your best bet is to have someone do it for you because you dont want to mess it up

I nee instructions on a cam sensor removal for a 1998 ford contor with a 16 vale 2.o over head cam engine

The camshaft sensor is located at the back of the head on driver side. Remove the wire, unscrew the sensor, screw the new sensor in the head and put the wire back on the sensor

The camshaft sensor is not in the back on the 98 4 cyl its right in front. All you need to do is take off the 3 bolts on the top of the heat shield and pull it back a bit and it will be right there.

Is there only one mark on the gears? I'll look it up. If you had a problem with the crank sensor it wouldn't have spark. If it was the cam sensor it would start but set the check engine light off. What size engine?

98 Dodge Dakota "pick up coil" cam position sensor repeat failure

Honestly? Cruddy parts.

I have a Dodge Stratus....97....same thing here. Unfortunately, shoddy parts, even from the dealership. I think the best thing is to keep a fresh one on hand. I know that the wiring is garbage too due to how the harness curls up to the sensor. Not much to tell you on this one.
