Sounds to me like if your voltage is high that your alt is going bad. Id check the batt with a meter while the car is running. If your alt is over charging then odds are then its going bad.

Thank you for the advice. We just put in a new alternator, but it is still doing the same thing. High voltage and burning the headlights.
Did they put on the right amp alt? There are different volts they can put out? There really isnt any reason other then that to have high volts? If you are having headlights blowing there could be a short? You could also olm the wires going to the headlights? like i said its just strange to me that you have high volts.
