2002 land rover freelander timing setting

I am tryingto fix my 2002 freelander, the timing belt is being replaced but I can not find any settings and do not want to take the car to a shop and pay money that I do not have, nor do I have $800.00 to buy a tool to set the time. Is there any settings that you can give me so I can get my freelander up and running?

Petrol or diesel???? common rail diesel or standard diesel

    there is a line on each camshaft these line up with each other i/e point to each other -the mark on the crankpulley lines up with the mark on the bottom cambelt cover remove the cover and mark the crankpulley with tipex or similar to a reference point on the block then you will know if it moves !!!! you should have a tool to hold the two cams together but i use some grips so the dont move......good luck and happy motoring..

If you are asking about the actual TIMING BELT and not the serpentine belt, I would check with a dealership or a local garage. The Freelander has three (3), yes--3 timing belts:

front timing belt

left side rear timing belt

right side rear timing belt

dear, you need the proper timing tools for a v6 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you need qite a bit of experience to do that job or when you start the engine it wont run properly.........i suggest getting a mechanic you know to help you or take it to a garage or you could end up wrecking the engine...............sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you dont get it right you gunna need a new engine
