The oil light on your car has nothing to do with oil level in the crankcase but rather oil pressure. The oil pressure switch/sensor is located on the rear of the engine block above the right axle I believe. Unless you have engine noise or suspect low oil pressure, I'd replace it but you could check oil pressure for peace of mind with an pressure gauge if you wish. You may need a special socket to replace it.

You need an oil pressure gauge. The gauge will screw into the hole where the sender came out of. I have some gauges that can screw onto where the oil filter is after removing the filter.

You need an oil pressure gauge. It will screw into the hole where the sender is. I have seen gauges that screw onto where the oil filter is after removing the filter. I don't know the spec's for pressure off hand but ballpark you should have 20+ psi hot while idling, and 40-60 hot while at 1000-1500 rpm engine speed. You'll have to find out what your spec's are. Low pressure could indicate an engine problem or oil pump problem.

If the oil pressure light is on and the oil level is ok, then this indicates either oil pump or the oil pressure switch is faulty!

Where is a 2003 oldsmobile alero 2.2L engine oil level sensor located?

most if not all are visible from Oil Pan , you will have to search fom under neath car with good flashlight . Often wires become heat damaged cracked /oil soaked or The O Ring sealing unit to Pan Leaks = = False reading . But reason to trigger code / trouble light is often due to heavy footed acceleration when engine is actually low on oil . Be sure to unplug Negative battery cable 30 minutes to reset code reading - - YOU May Not Need New Part if reset clears code now that oil is FULL or if recently changed all newer GM models must have a reset to tell %#$@$$&^$$$ computer oil was changed . ...Hope above helps save $$$ by not installing new part ..

2001 jeep wrangler crankcase senser how to change

no engine options stated so all answers will be wild guesses.

crankcase. there is no sensor on any crankcase
unless its oil level? or oil pressure, or???
the PCV is a crankcase device. it is easy to remove.

why not tell the story of why you want to find a part .
eg: my buddy said I need to change the PCV at tune up.
or my oil light comes on , at hot idle.
or my crank case oil level light is failing. (only on some engines)
my oil pressure gauge reads wrong.
i can not guess these.

Oil light keeps flashing, car full of oil

Low oil pressure could be the reason the oil light in your car will come on. Test your oil pressure. Without enough pressure, the oil will not reach necessary areas of the engine. The oil pressure sensor itself may sometimes become clogged with sludge from the engine, especially if the engine has not been properly maintained. A clogged oil sensor can give a false reading of low oil pressure, which will illuminate your oil light. So, check the oil pressure sensor light.

Oillight is on and its dinging

I'M guessing that is oil change or oil service light you are sking about
you have to reset it like this

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, do not start the engine.
  2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly three times within 10 seconds.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.
NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not reset. If necessary repeat this procedure.

I have a 2001 chevy blazer and it keeps having high oil pressure and blows the oil filter gasket. What can I do to fix this?

replace the pcv valve in the truck.located on the valve cover,it gives the crankcase positive crankcase ventilation. sound like yours is stopped up.when you replace the oil filter, use a thin film of oil around the oil filter gasket before you install it. you'll find that it helps to seal the oil filter perfect.thank you for choosing

Oil light on, knocking, crankcase full oil smells burnt, no leaks or smoke.

Sounds bad, usually this is the death sounds of an engine. At some point you have lost oil pressure either the pump or it has got to low on oil, now the main bearings on the conrods are failing. If you keep it running much longer there will be a big bang and a conrod will come out of the side of the engine or out the bottom and thats not good!!!

The oil light keeps coming on with a bell

If your oil gauge if you have one reads good pressure, more then likely you have a bad sensor, if you just have an oil light, take it to a repair shop where they can do an oil pressure test. Have it check, low oil pressure can cause major engine damage.

The oil light and warning bell keeps going off. We are trying to find the location of the oil sensor to change it. Where is it?

on the 2.4L it's on the side of the engine block, facing the firewall.
on the 3.3 and the 3.8L it's mounted next to the oil filter.

Check oil light on 96 cavalier 2.2L

2.2l cavalier engines have an oil level sensor on the front side of the pan just below the starter. make sure it plugged in before checking anything else. if you're going to change a sensor because of "low oil' light, that would be the one.
