The seals can be changed, they sell a kit, but u will have to remove the box to do that.

To change the bottom seal, take off the pitman arm ( get the extractor borrowed from auto zone) take off the top cap ( 2 screws) and pull the shaft up, be sure the tires are aligned straight, that way the gears gonna be free and the shaft will come off with no hassle ( some oil will spill) then remove the lock that secure the seal in place, now you can push the seal from the top, i did the job, couple of times without taking the box out, good luck

Bleeding brakes

If you did not have any brake fluid leak out when you changed the brake shoes, then there is no need to bleed the brakes. The bleed ports are on the wheel cylinder next to where the brake line attaches to the cylinder.

My 1994 Ford Explorer Limited 4X4 had a really bad leak after driving it and all the transmission fluid drained out when i put the vehicle in gear. Is that the front seal? maybe the water pump?

If your having to add transmission fluid and not coolant, then the water pump is ok, fill with transmission fluid look under truck, if fluid is coming out of between engine and transmission housing, then bad front transmission seal.

Leaking oil from between the engine and gearbox

The distributor is located right atop the trans and engine, it can leak oil and appear to be a main seal leak.

Otherwise, you have a bad crank seal if its oil, and bad trans seal if its trans fluid. In these cases the trans or engine has to be broken apart from one another.

You better hope for a leaky distributor, or even a leaky intake gasket by the distributor.

Is a E4od Transmission(Ford) the same that is in my motorhome and in my f350 pickup truck,, 4 speed with OD? i have 1 1994 fleetwood bounder with a 460 ford and an e40d thansmission in it,, as well as my...

it might have just run low on fluid while driving, the front seal may not have been installed correctly,or the cooler lines or cooler might be plugged causing the trans to overheat which will cause it to leak a steady stream...for example,my 94 bronco with a e40d acted like that too when i worked it really hard pulling stumps out in the summer last year,it leaked out really bad until it cooled down,i put 20,000 miles on it since and it doesnt leak not even a mine was just overheated really bad.As for if it is the same between vehicles it is only if both trucks are a big block, and if both are 2wd.
