Sound like you have a sticky valve body
you will need to put a cleaner in the trans
i recomen a product made by Sea foam called trans tune.
this would be your first step
let us know how it turns out
there are magic cures in a can but this will unstick valves and alow them to open completely
when you hear a noise in your trans its the sound of high pressure blowing threw your valve bodyand or pump over pressure
good luck

Gear shift locked in park

Try setting your parking brake before you put the gear selector in park. Then put it in drive before you take the parking brake off to see it it keeps the load off the transmission when your parking on a steep incline or decline.

Where do I add Transmission fluid on a 95 ford Probe??

So you know, I am not insulting you. I don't know what you know or what you don't know. From your symptoms, I'm confused. If you pulled the trani pan down and the trani dip-stick still read "Full", you pulled the wrong dip-stick. Your transmission takes Mercon and you will need a narrow funnel that will fit inside the trani dip-stick tube. Follow the dip-stick tube all the way to the bottom and verify that it goes to the transmission. When you pulled the trani pan down you should have four or more quarts empty into your drain-pan. Until you can confirm that the the trani is properly filled, don't continue to use the car. Running the engine while the trani is empty can damage internal componants. If you have any questions, please write back, good luck.

Powerglide transmission

Ouch...sat too long and the transmission fluid is probably like molasses... Try pulling the tranny pan, dump the fluid, clean the pan and change the filter and refill with DEXRON fluid. Also add some SeaFoam transmission additive. Start it up and when engine is at operating tempuature, SLOWLY put it in all gears. Shift back and forth, back and forth (with your foot on the brake !). Hopefully the new fluid and the SeaFoam will clean up the internal parts. If and whne the car is driveable, drive about 100 miles and then dump the fluid, filter and refill. Add another can of SeaFoam. Hope this helps....
Good Luck

Trany wines only in gear

for the transmission to make a noise only in gear, is an indication of failing bearings as the load is applied to the cluster shaft bearings. Pull the drain plug and check for metal stuck to the magnet in the plug

Need to fix the slipping on an automatic transmission

change the trany fluid and filter. get some lucas transmission treatment and put it in before you put your trany fluid in. after all fluids are in and everything is together start the vehicle and hold foot on brake and go through the gears it might slip a lil the first 5 min of driving or until fluid works through trany.

After trans warms up you put it in reverce it goes into gear and you give it gas and it starts pulling then it quites but when you let off the gas and the rpm dropes it goes back into gear

This sounds like you may be low on trany oil, start by checking the oil level in the trany, if its full then you may have internal problem and may need a rebuild. hope this is helpful.

My 2004 honda element shifter wont move from the park position

There are systems to prevent accidentally removing from park.

The key must be on. Sometimes this is a mechanically linked lock, sometimes electrically operated.

Newer cars usually have to be running, and your foot needs to be on the brake. With the engine running, you should hear a quite "thunk" from the transmission area when you put your foot on the brake pedal.

If you are pulling on the shifter while you put your foot on the brake, the actuator will not be able to overcome the friction your pull on the shifter causes.

It is possible that friction in the selector parts is causing the same thing. With the engine running and your foot on the brake, try pushing the shifter farther into Park to see if the actuator will let go.

If it does not feel like you are running into a lockout, sometimes transmissions are just a little stiff to get out of park, especially iof the vehicle is on a front to rear incline, causing it to try to roll against the parking pin.

Transmission staying in low gear longer than usual, the next day same problem, then the engine overheats. Are the problems related?

this may be related, the computer will need to be scanned for any stored codes, then check your fluid level in the trany, these trucks have problems with the fan clutch and sometimes it make it feel like the trany is acting up, so have the fan clutch also checked out,

1998 saturn manual transmission will not engage in any gear

Well, there is one thing for sure the trany is damaged. You will be further ahead looking for another junk yard trany rather than worry about what is going on inside since there is probably parts and pieces inside that would still give you trouble without completely overhauling it, plus a junk yard trany, standard would be easy to come by.

Engine jerking

Hi there, let me see if I can help.

There's not much info to go on here, but let me try.....

Ok, if it's "pulling or stopping" in a jerking motion. It sounds like it might be engine related, however, it can be transmission issues also. Lets talk about engine.

Are there any check engine lights? That may be a clue that it's engine related...such as an engine miss.
Try putting the car in park and rev the engine from idle. (note: don't go into the red zone on RPM.) Does if feel rough and jerky? this eliminates the transmission. If so look at cyl miss issues, timing belt "out of time," EGR stuck open....etc...

If the engine passess this test, test drive the vehicle for transmission problems. Find an open road that does not have much traffic. Test at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 mph. go to a cruise at speed indicated and then accelerate at light throttle and then heavy throttle then coast.

Do you feel it only when applying power? Nothing on deceleration?

if it does it on most of these speeds (particulary at higher speeds) look at inner C/V joint. You will need to take apart the joint and look at the race for ridges. The vibration can happen when the rollers fall into the worn spots and causes a "jerking" feeling when applying power. (look for leaking grease from inner joints. Damage usually happens when all the grease leaks out.

If it only happens at and around 40mph, it could be a torque converter clutch. Try a transmission flush.
(drain, refill, and run through all the gears P,R,N,D,2,1 BE CAREFUL HERE!!! Keep your foot on the brake. USE YOUR HEAD!!!!!!!!! Don't run vehicle on jack stands. Repeat 3 times. ONLY USE HONDA TRANS FLUID. Yes, it does make a difference! Will take about 12 qts to do a proper flush. See if the problem goes away.

It might need a transmission it it continues after the flush, or you have some other problem that isn't obvious to me with the given info. Hope this helps and happy hunting.
