Question about Hyundai Tiburon

1 Answer

I am puting in a new block heater into my 2001 Hyundai Tiburon since it never came with one. I was wondering if someone had a picture of this or could tell me how I could do it. I am a little unsure where it is on the engine. After I know where it is I can take it from there. Thanks.

The block heater goes in the firewall side of the engine. There is what is called a frost plug there (actually there is more then one) locate the one next to the ac compressor that is the plug u must remove to install the block heater ( the frost plug is the second one from the front of the engine)

If it's a standard transmission, this could be possible.Another way you can try is roll the car up to speed and throw in in gear and see if starts. The ignition must be on

How to change a heater core on 2001 hyundai tiburon?

Inspect/Replace If it is necessary to remove the heater assembly, the cooling system must be drained before removing the heater core.
When a heater core leaks, a new heater core is installed or the old one repaired.
Heater Housing
  • The heater housing is usually under the dash and must be removed to gain access to the heater core.
  • Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.
f74-01.gif The heater housing is disassembled to get to the heater core. Heater Core
  • Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
  • Remove the heater coolant hoses.
  • Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
  • Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
  • Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
  • To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.
When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.

There are several sources from which to get your owner's and service manuals, including going to the manufacturer of the car, and these:

Change water pump on 2001 hyundai tiburon

It is a 2.0L (the delta blocks weren't in tibs until '03). You have to remove the timing belt tensioner, and then you can remove the bolts for the water pump. I would strongly recommend not only taking careful precaution not to disturb the orientation of the gears in this process, but also to replace the timing belt and water pump at the same time. You don't want to go through this process all over again do you?
