When replacing a heater core in my 91 DeVille, there was a nylon insert with internal threaded head that snapped on the heater control box. I can't find this fastener at any of the Caddy dealers in the Cleveland Ohio area. Any suggestions? the heater box is a Delco model. Without the fastener, I can't re-mount the control box and I'm getting cold air blowing in when driving at high speed. when driving slow or idling, there's plenty of heat.

how then is the defrost hot, doesnt that heat come from the radiator core as well?

I had the same problem in my 1991 caddy, and turned out to be the blend door. It is located in back of the glove compartment. There are two kinds, the automatic blend doors and the manuel ones. Since the temperature is automatic and programmed to stay where it is set, it would be an "automatic blend door". Not a hard fix...

You may have air in your cooling system. This could prevent coolant from circulating through your heater core. To bleed this air out it helps to park the car on a steep incline (front of car higher than rear) to get the radiator higher than the heater core so that the air can travel up and out. Remove the radiator cap and run the car with the heater on high and blower on. Make sure the car is warmed up and the thermostat is open. You may need to top off the radiator every now and then as air escapes. If the heater starts to get hot your problem is solved. If not you may have a clogged heater core and it needs to be replaced.

After changing alternator in 95 cadillac deville the heat doesnt blow at all

The alternator does not have anything to do with the blower fan for heat. You may have unhooked a wire by mistake, or you have a blown fuse. God-Bless!

My heat doesn't work on my 1999 Cadillac Deville

Start with the basics, check to make sure you have thermostat, h And the heater hoses. On a lot of the older cars. This would help prevent the older car from over heating. Just a suggestion.

No heat fog's up inside

Do you want to know if it is the heater core. If you perform a pressure test on the cooling system it will pin point the source. But I does sound like the core.
