You 'll need an OBD II code reader to read out the trouble code stored in the engine computer's memory. Major auto parts stores have these readers and will read out your codes for free. With the code you can begin to trouble shoot the problem.
The check engine light indicates that a trouble code is stored in the vehicle's computer memory. An OBD II code reader is needed to read out the code and explain it. Major auto parts stores will use one of these readers to read out your code for free. With the code, a diagnostic routine can be developed to trouble shoot the problem.
Hello! The Check Engine Light comes on when there is a vehicle trouble...Each trouble has a code...There are many such codes...Take your Beetle to an auto parts store, and for no charge, they will run a code scan...When you have the code, come back to me and I'll fix your problem......
NO. You will need someone to connect a code reader at the minimum and get the Trouble Code. That will tell you what system has a problem and then you can trouble shoot from there. Buy a code reader from the parts store.
goto a sears automotive center, walmart, pepboys or some place like that, they sell OBD 2 code readers for the car, you connect it up to the computer and it will tell you what the code is that is setting the light off on the dash, if it is what you fixed, then you click on the the button to reset the light and you are done... the OBD2 readers can be anywhere from $20 to $40 or so dollars from those places. just get a cheap one cause that will save you a lot of money. but atleast then if the light ever comes on again you can connect the reader up read the code and fix the problem that is causing the check engine light to come on...hope this helps and saves you money
