fuel pump , fuel pump relay on fire wall, fuel filter, may all need replaced, pump in tank, inspect all wiring in this circuit, especially all grounds,, grounds get overlooked & that is sometimes the problem. I have a 1988 gmc 2500, I 'm talking from experience. can you hear if fuel pump runs for 2 seconds, when you turn key on ? if not, ground problem or pump problem. relay has a fuse in it, check that. check all fuses. NOW, spark ! coil ? plug wires ? distributor cap & rotor ? replace them if you haven't !!!!!!!!!! get to work, see how you do ! good luck !
Check the fuel injectors, with the key on one side of the two wire connector will have battery voltage, if none is present then check the ECM fuses in the underhood fuel box.
MAKE SURE DISTRIBUTOR CAP ,ROTOR, SPARKPLUGS AND WIRES, OKAY IF ALL HAS BEEN REPLACED.IF NOT GETTING SPARK PROBLEM COULD BE IGNITION COIL FAULTY, ASD RELAY FAULTY,DISTRIBUTOR WITH CAMSHAFT SENSOR FAULTY OR YOU HAVE FAULTY PCM. CODE SCAN VECHICLE FOR FAULT CODE, IF YOU ARE GETTING SPARK PROBLEM IN THE FUEL SYSTEM, CHECK FUEL PUMP RELAY AND FUSE MAKE SURE FUEL FILTER BEEN CHANGED AND FUEL PRESSURE IS 39 - 41 PSI. CHECK FOR FUEL SPARK SEE WHAT GOING ON, VECHICLE NEEDS FUEL OR SPARK TO RUN IF ONE NOT WORKING ENGINE WILL NOT START.
Pull the pump and check to see if the baffle in the fuel tank has come loose. Over time sometimes the baffle in the tank comes free and knocks against the pump causing it to short and damaging the pump itself. Unfortunately if that is the problem you will have to replace the tank. There is no way to remove the baffle or re-attach it.
Hi, Ok you have confirmed that it's not a fuel problem. You need to check for spark. Pull the coil wire off of the coil(secondary lead-looks like a spark plug wire) Have some one crank it over and listen for a popping sound. IF yes, spark is at the coil, that means all ignition sensors are working. Next check for spark at ends of wires after cap. IF no replace cap and rotor. IF yes remove a couple spark plugs and check for fouling(wet, fuel etc...) IF yes replace or clean plugs and retest for starting. IF no spark is present at coil you need to scan computer and watch for rpm signal. IF no rpm signal, replace crankshaft sensor with OEM delco part. BIGGEST problem with these engines is Cap and Rotor burn out.
If you know plugs /wires are good and you know for sure cap/rotor/and or coil pack is all good and getting fire.........it should be crank sensor is bad....if not fuel pump could be installed improperly or in some cases fuel filter is in backwards...make sure arrow on fuel filter is in flow direction....
are you sure you getting fuel even though you have new fuel filter, check all fuses under the dash to fuel pump and relay under the hood, are you getting sparks? check rotor, cap, coil...make sure you getting 2 important items, gas and fuel to the engine. hope that help some
you were dead on, the ignition module was bad, put a new one on and its working perfect, thanks a bunch.
it is getting gas and everything but wont start acting like no fire
