Question about 2003 Ford Focus
2003 Focus wagon 2.0L Automatic (US) - 65000 miles. Upon returning to the airport after a weeks trip, temp, spedo, and fuel gauges started to jump. Very quickly the temp and spedo pegged to zero and the fuel gauge pegged to full. On the 40 mile trip home, ocassionally all three gauges [at the same time] would jump to the correct value but then would peg back to the zero/full position. After I got home, I let the car sit for an hour and then took it out for a short drive. All dials now pegged to zero/empty with no movement whatsoever. Other than the dials, the car ran fine. All other electrical equipment [lights, radio, wipers, heater fan, windows, other instrument idiot lights] were fine. I've read the posts about the VSS. Could that also affect the temp & fuel dials? Dave When the key is turned on, the speedometer goes from 0 to 130 mph instantly and then goes back to 0. If the car sits for two days without being started the battery goes dead. The car has a new battery , the alternator is putting out the correct voltage and there are no blown fuses in the car. What could be causing the battery to go dead?
Ok let me help you get started
this isnt going to be easy we need to do a bunch of testing.
you will need a 12 volt test light.
remove the negitive battery cable and connect one side of your test light to the battery negitive and the other side to the battery cable . and with the key off.. so now if you have a short some where the light should be lit. now what we have to do is start to pull fuses untill the light goes out. and when you find the fuse that is causing your short and drain your battery . then we have to look into the section of the wiring and components.
let me know what you find
