This is a known problem with the focus.try tapping on the end of stuck key while trying to turn.if this does not work.you will most likley have to drill out ign cyl and replace.I have had to do this many many times.

2000 buick century ignition stuck on

Hi David I'm glad to help!

David I've found from time to time an Ignition switch will stick because the tumblers freeze. If you in fact have a tumbler and key set-up here a way that usually works but not always. Remove the key an spray lubricant into the key hole, then replace the key and using a small hammer tap on the end of the key while turning it off. Once you get it to move you'll need to replace the tumbler and housing assembly. NOTE: If you have a WIN Module set-up then remove the negative battery cable for 20 seconds then reconnect it and see if it works properly. This is only if you have the Module and key set-up, this has nothing to do with the key and tumbler. Hope this helps and have an awesome day David.

Jeep - can't turn ignition key

your ignition barrell tumblers are getting stuck, you need to replace the barrell and tumblers at dealership. you can get the key to turn if you hold key in ignition and try and turn and at the same time tap the end of the key which normally jogs the tumblers to enable key to turn

Pt wont start or turn over

try to get a jump from a friend and see what happens, does the same, faulty starter, may need replacing, try to use small hammer and tap lightly on the starter couple time and have a friend start the car while you tap lightly on it. check ignition switch where you stick the key in. stick the key in the ignition and turn the key back and forth jiggle and wiggle it and see if your igniting will make contact. do it several time to test and see if its the ignition problems, this part is not cheap to replace.

Me key wont engage in ignition how do i change the barrell

This is going to sound wierd, but put your key into ignition and tap on the key (like a nail) with the handle of a screw driver (or similar). Shavings can build up in the cylinder of the ignition and the key may not turn it. The tapping can shake loose the pins that are stuck and you shoul be able to turn it. This is a common problem in Dodge so I hope it work for your toyota. A locksmith can also clean them out, or you can use WD-40.

How to get key out that is stuck in ignition

Remove steering column shroud(cover)and tap ignition barrel with small hammer while twisting key backwards and forwards, also turn steering wheel backwards and forwards sometimes this is enough to release key as the locking pins in barrel and the steering lock pin do sometimes jam.You will have to remove steering column shroud to replace ignition barrel if tapping/hitting it doesnt work anyway so its not a wasted effort.Good luck, let me know how it works out

Key stuck in ignition

Take the steering column cover off and tap/hit the ignition barrel with suitable tool (small hammer)while twisting on key.It may be enough to loosen it so key comes out.You will have to remove steering column cover to swap with replacment barrel anyway .Get someone to turn steering wheel while tapping/hitting barrel as it could be the steering column lock pin thats jamming.good luck.
