It is the heater fan resistor that is bad, it has different steps for the speed of the fan motor from low to high.

That woul be a bad blower motor resistor or a bad blower motor resistor connection.Turn on the ignition switch and put the fan switch on high then pull on and wiggle the connector going to the resistor. These resistors get hot and usally melt the connector causing it to loose its contact with the prongs. The resistor is located on the passenger side mounted on the heat duct with to screws.

Testimonial: "that was it! connector got hot, cleaned connector and works great, thanks"

SOURCE: The fan/blower only works on the high setting.

the various speeds are controlled through resisters (spring-like in apperance) one of different value for each speed, none for highest speed as the power gets to the blower uninpeeded . the resistor pack could be located on the center of the firewall, held by 2 screws. thats under the hood. where the engine bay ends...i.m sorry i don't know the exact position on your model

2001 chevy express..coolant not hot and very little heat

Probably bad open thermostat, or fan running all the time? Put some cardboard in front of radiator (don't go to far) and see if the coolant gets warmer or the heater works better.

The blower motor is on the right side of the dash.remove the lower right kick panel, the motor bolts in with three screws.the resistor is located to the left of the blower.check your connector on the resistor as these like to melt.you will need to install a new pigtail if this has happened.

My a/c comp and engine cooling fan are not working it seems like they both quit at the same time is there a sensor that opperates both on a 2001 chevy cavalier

there is a fan relay, and an AC relay that both turn the fan on at certain times, including when the AC is on. a coolant temp sensor tells the computer (ECM) to turn on the fan but only when the engine reaches a certain temp. an electronic component locator can show you where these sensors and relays are located. they are not very expensive. your local auto parts store can look that up for you.

The fan went out on my heater is this a fuse problem? 1999 Chevy Express

It could be:

1. A fuse

The fan/blower only works on the high setting.

It probably is the fan switch itself. They are around $30. for a new one. You can take it out and check to see if you have power to all the settings with a ohm meter or test light. They are not real hard to take out.
