Question about 1999 Volkswagen Golf

1 Answer

Miss Fireing? I have had my 99 golf for nearly 6 months, recently after i change gears the car loses all power, and has big flat spots, it takes a while for it to move at all. i went to my mechanic who suggested it may be mis firing, we changed the spark plugs which made a slight difference, we then changed the petrol filter no change. My car was running ok until the otherday and it has gotten majorly worse.

Your mechanic must know if its misfiring ,has it got coil packs on top of the plugs? or ht leads from a coil pack, also check for air leaks..

if you have an auto zone near you go there and ask them to run a check on it and they will hook it up to a computer thing and they can tell you one or more things that may be wrong with it. My car was doing that recently and i found out it was miss fireing on the 2nd cylinder but it still runs. It could also be spark plugs or wires. It might even be a little thing like an O2 cencer. hope this helps

Car had a new intake manifold assy and ignition module installed after a month, the #6 cylender is miss fireing and the engine is running too rich. The machinic did alot of tests and checks but he said it...

you need to have an OBII scan done (fault scan) that will identify what's is causing your issues. Autozone, Advance, auto parts can do this for you for FREE. Get the list of faults and have your mechanic address what computer has tracked.

My Diesel Golf lacks power and acceleration on hills, can you advise what the problem is?

The problem could probabely be the diesel filter, try replacing it.
If there's no difference thn best would be to service the injector pump and the nozzles.

thats the risk you run when you have a third party not liscensed by volkswagen mess with your ECM. take it to the tuning shop that did the remap work and ask them to redo it because it messed your engine up, if you make a big enough stink they might do it for free.
