Question about Mitsubishi Lancer

Interior light not working. Removed bulb and checked fuse - both fine. Now central locking will not work. What has gone wrong?

Well this is an easy one the door sensor on one of the doors has gon bad or you have a ground problem check to see if you are geting power to the doors wirering cluster test all lines to see if you have a problem there first then move to the door sensors if that dont fix this problem then it is in the computer if that is the case then unhook the the battery for 30sec. thenhook it back up.this should fix the problem.

1996 Mitsubishi Lancer no interior lights, clock, speedo, radio, central locking after radio was pulled out and looked at. Fuses for radio etc are all fine ?


something shorted
i would be checking the engine bay fuses
central locking will have a relay

are the other instruments working
and just bulbs out...blown bulbs

The fuse has gone on my 2004 nissan x trail central locking system can only lock drivers door and with key only .Problem is cant locate the fuse


Your problem is the interior light switch fuse has blown!which also serves the central locking system, located in the fuse box just above the drivers footwell (10amp) (well awkward). Replcace with one of the spare fuses supplied and all should be well. If your interior lights are not working (except boot light) this is a dead giveaway. Good luck.

Toyota Corolla Verso - Central locking has just stopped responding


So you don't waste your time, here are some assumptions: -

1. When I press the key fob there is no sound of doors trying to lock/unlock and I know the key fob is fine.


Solution:


In this situation reset the alarm/locking system

Below is the procedure I followed to get the central locking working again: -

Open the passenger door, and look at the side of the dash board. There should be a triangular panel. Pull the panel off to reveal a small set of fuses(see the back of the panel for the fuse map). To power down the central locking you need to remove the Dome Light fuse, this is located top left. Second one down 7.5 amps. (if in doubt remove the top two 7.5 amp fuses I did)

When you remove the fuse(s) you will notice the interior light go out indicating you have powered down the system.

Now leave them out for at least 30 mins so any capacitors can discharge properly. (Be aware while the fuse is removed all central locking is disabled, so the other doors are open. I left the fuse(s) out over night with all the doors open but I don't recommend it, 30 mins should be fine)

After 30 mins replace the fuse(s) close all doors, and then try your key fob, hopefully you should here that satisfying locking sound.


2. When I press the key fob I hear the locking system trying to engage.

This could be a faulty door switch on any door including the boot, or there could be a dent in the inner door panel of any of the doors, usualy the rear doors due to the seat belt not retracting properly.

Solution:

Check all door switches for damage, and check inner panel for dents, just a small dent where the switch connects can be enough to not engage the switch. This will stop the central locking.

Use some kitchen roll wrapped in tape (as a makeshift pad) and tape to the inner door as a temp measure to engage the door switch. At least you can then lock the car.

windows, interior lights work via central locking control unit. [situated under side panel in luggage compartment] check fuses for c/locking and check for water ingress at control unit.

Fuse blowing on interior light/ remote


Was the bulb the same size and watt as the one you removed? Did you possibly cause a short in the fixture. I do not recomend using a larger fuse due to possible wiring dammage (risk of fire). Check the bulb for size and wattage/voltage check the holder to make sure it is not grounding out. Carefully check each step 2x.

1996 Volvo 850 GLT Fuse #15 keeps blowing out


Hi!

Since you've got a '96 I assume your #15 fuse is 10 amps and for the following components:

Audio System, Courtesy Lights, Door Open Light, Trunk Light, Glove Box Light, Remote Control Central Locking System, Oil Level Sensor, Seat Belt Reminder, Data Link Connector.

Turn ignition to OFF, turn off all interior lighting (by operating the selector inside the car), close all doors, wait about 20 seconds and insert a new fuse. If the fuse is blown immediately upon insertion my guess would be that you have an aftermarket audio system with faulty wiring or maybe something is wrong with you Data Link Connector. If that is not the case the problem might prove a little bit harder to find, and you'll definitely need a wiring diagram. Check this site:

If the fuse is not blown immediately upon insertion: Good, the components affiliated with the fuse can then be grouped by what ignition position they are active at (OFF, 1, 2) and tested individually.

POSITION OFF:
- Door open light, courtesy lights, glove box light, trunk light, remote central locking system.
Make sure the glove box light really is turned off when closing the glove box.
After that it's simply a matter of testing these components one after the other (with the ignition at position OFF) by opening/closing doors, turning on/off trunk light etc, checking the fuse between each component test.
Make sure that the interior lighting is turned off when you test the central locking, or else you might end up faulttracing central locking when the problem was with the interior lighting :)
(Since the interior lights can be set to turn on when the central locking is operated).

POSITION 1:
- Usually the audio system, unless it's an aftermarket system.
If the fuse breaks the second you turn the ignition to position 1 the audio system probably has faulty wiring.

POSITION 2:
If the fuse breaks the second you turn the ignition to position 2 one of these two components is the culprit:
- Seat belt reminder, oil level sensor.
Fasten all seat belts and try again with a new fuse.
If the fuse still breaks the oil level sensor is most likely the culprit.
If the fuse didn't break the seat belt reminder is the culprit. If so you can simply disconnect the seat belt reminder relay, ridding you of both your fuse problem and the annoying seat belt reminder. The relay is located behind the cover over the drivers feet (easily removed, just a couple of torx screws, no breakable interior clips).

The central locking relay and the alarm module are also found there, as well as some other electrical components.

The Data Link Connector is an unlikely culprit, but it's probably best if you unplugged it completely during testing.
If everything turns out ok with it disconnected you can test it at the end. (The Data Link Connector is the OBD II conncetor located by the coin holder, in front of the gearchange).

Key wont lock doors. Cannot lock doors from inside car either.


hey doug, if you have excessive resistance in the brake circuit the warning will come on. I would first check the brake light sockets and bulbs to make sure they are not corroded or the bulb turned dark. If they are ok, then I would replace the brake light switch located above the brake pedal. you will have to remove the driver's lower trim cover to access the brake light switch.the circuit is seperate from the central lock system.
