Question about 2000 Kia Sephia

Over heating to whom it may concern, i have been having over heating problems with my car, and was wondering if it is a common ocurance in this model? i believe that the fans aren't working. Although the car will overheat, as soon as i get it up to speed the car begins to cool down. shortly after the car began overheating, the engine light turns on and off from time to time. do you have any recommendations or solutions? thanks again shawna peneyra

Yeah... i've check the water level often considering when this first began happening the water would shoot out of the overflow canister. The past few weeks it hasn't been boiling over. also i had a few slightly aware people look under the hood, and they noticed the fans were not running.

could it be electrical or fuse problems?

well the temp gauge arrow rises, and the steam or boiling water come shooting out. i leave the hood open for a while to let the inside cool down, and when i start the car again the temp gauge is lowered. the engine light turns on or off depending if the car is acting up.

you are right. i did have to replace the thermostat, but the problem did continue to persist. Although the overheating became better, it still tends to overheat if i drive the car in either traffic or over 20 minutes. This is what lead me to believe that it had to be the fans because the only time it wasnt a problem was when there was enough air circulating through the car.

do you know anything about electrical problems with the wires or fuses????

I have a 2001 Kia Sephia. It was doing the same thing. We changed the thermostat and it didn't work. Turns out our car had 2 cooling fans and one of them had stopped working so it would be fine on the highway and overheat in town.

I had a simular problem with my KIA. I noticed that it was over heating while I was at red lights or in line at drive thru widows but was fine while I was driving. I looked into it and found that a fuze hadblown out and the cooling fan wasn't kicking on. Might wanna check it out.

Have you checked the water level? Have you raised the hood and checked to see if the fans are turning when the light comes on?

Are you sure it's actually over heating? Besides the lights coming on, what gives you the idea it is over heating? (trying to rule out faulty lights, etc)

Have you tried replacing the themostat? It may be sticking. I had a car once that it would stick close until it ran hot then it would open. They are usually easy to replace, but I don't know if it would be easy on your car or not.

sounds like a bad connection somewhere. check the cables at your batt and make sure they are tight, next make sure you have a good connection with your jumper cables.the noise from the speakers is common with a dead batt.

maybe the rotors are bigenuff and heat up too quick and warp but thats what they put on the car so youre out of luck,,,,you could put aftermarket rotors on it that are slotted and or crossdrilled which would greatly reduce the heat and your warping isue,,,,or maybe youre just too hard on the brakes,,try avoid sudden stops and braking at the last minute

Passenger Side Airbag Cover is Curling Up

HI. Unfortunately, the damage to the airbag cover is quite normal in this type of vehicle. This is normal depreciation, and it is sun, or heat related as well. It poses no danger to the passenger, or the driver as well. The bag is secure at this point, and it will not activate, unless you are evolved in a crash above the speed rate of 30 MPH.

It is merely a cosmetic issue. Im sure that the maker, or Chrysler will send you a replacment cover if you are intrested in replacing this at this time. Contact your local dealer for the ordering process, if so.

Concerning a newer vehicle purchase. I would strongly recommend a Honda, over the Kia. Kia's have great warranty packages, but for a good reason. They can be high maintenance vehicles, and the company is still quite young. Any type of Honda will out preform a Kia, and the price will be acceptable as well. If your are looking for a good mix of value and performance, go with a Honda Accord DX, or Civic SE.

My niece has an older model ford escort she got a code telling her the Turbine speed sensor code. I beleive this is a transmisson problem. But I am wondering is this a big job. She is a single mom who I am...

I believe you have the 4EAT better known as the E-CAT

the turbine speed sensor is a common problem and easy fix

the sensor is located on top of the transmission it is simply a magnetic pick-up, you can access this just by raising the hood and looking on top of the transmission it just screws out and the new one screws in.

good luck
