I have a 2000 dakota with a 4.7l engine and the heater is not putting out much heat, I had located the heater hoses and felt them, one was warm and the other cool, I had removed the hoses wanting to flush the heater but found these hoses contain a oil of some kind in them. Any Ideas on this.

Feel your hoses if one is cool then your heater core is not flowing enough you can try and backflush core.

I have no heat most of the time in my truck. I replaced my thermastat i have to squeeze hoses n flush my heater core hoses. can it be a bad heater core or a water pump that the fluid isnt flowing thru to the heater core.

could be a thermastat or your heater coil; try starting your vehicle aand putting ani freeze while engine is running but still relativley cool, sounds to me there isnt any fluid getting through to the heater coil

Problem..went to reinstall thermastat..was no thermastat in car. the housing was cracked, broken and is leaking antifreeze..why did the air work if no thermastat was in it???

Thermostat holds water in motor until it heats up to thermostats temp. While thermostat is closed (holding water back) it allows water in radiator to cool. When thermostat opens cool water enters engine through lower hose, hot water into radiator. When cool water hits thermostat it closes again and repeats the cycle. Your A/C is not dependant on heated water as when air is on, heater valve in heater hose is closed. Get yourself a new housing, gasket & thermostat and fix it right. An added bonus is you'll probably get better gas mileage with correct thermostat.

2002 taurus,no heat,

this problem is most often caused by a failed electric heater air temperature control blend door or blend door actuator.

the thermostat should be closed when you take it out, therefore the thermostat is bad. It does not closed.

Heating and over heating

if you smelled rad fluid then chances are you have a leak, you didnt say if you had to top it up at all, low fluid level will cause loss of heat, and the overheat prob sounds like thermastat replacement time, i would start with the thermastat
