diagnostic test should give you a clue to what is happening
ban news working on my wifes car let the garage sort it be cause every time it breaks its your fault becase you repaired it last lol you know how they are lol
Service soon light means, that the computer pick up a bad signal from one of your engine sensor, have a code reading done, get back with us with the code number so we can help with your troublr code, autozone will do this service for free.
The Service Engine Soon light comes only when the engine computer control unit (called the PCM) senses a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system, it is not related to the oil change, there are about 200 possible faults that turn the light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone parts stores do this testing for free.
Why not just have the codes read and reset at a place like Autozone, that does it for free?
It could just be odometer based, telling you a maintenance is due based on miles.
What exactly does the light look like? If it is a picture of the engine (check engine light) you may have a problem with the car. If it is a light that specificaly says "Service Engine Soon" or "Maintance Required", you may not need to do anything. Some cars, not many, have a service reminder light that comes on when ever a service is due like an oil change. When a mechanic does an oil change, they may reset this counter and after 3000 miles or so, the light comes on despite what ever conditions the oil is in, whether it needs to be changed or not, the light will come on and stay on. Now i dont want to tell you to ignore your light and later find out it was trying to tell you something was wrong. Look in your owners manual and find the description of the light. If you cannot find the description or do not have your owners manual, let us know and we will try and help you again. Hope this helps
Have you considerdthere is nouthing wrong and it just might need a service!
on those there is a carbon senser in the sump, when the oil gets burnt (BLACK) it is full off carbom AND CARBON CONDUCTS ELECTRICITY! OIL DOUSE NOT! THAT IS HOW IT KNOWS TO PUT THE SERVICE LIGHT ON! UNDERSTAND? So service it and change the oil it needs it! then light will go away!
Proper Diagnosis Requires more info and Visual however If the problem started after your last Oil Change I would suspect that something went Wrong during that Service . Happy Easter
