Question about 1997 Cadillac Seville
When I drive the car a distance of about 25 miles , the transmission status indicator light cluster flashes in a specific pattern, 3 fast then 2 slow , the radio shuts down , air conditioner will not function but the fan will stay on , the info center messages are anti-theft system , and car may not restart after shut down this will happen 3 or 4 times within 20 Min's then all goes back to normal.
You have classic symptoms of a failing BCM (body control module), it is the brain off all of these systems, the dealer has the correct test equip. to address this issue in a timely manner, outside shops are lost on these kinks of modern automotive electronic control systems, they guess and cost you allot of money.

The Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) System also contained in the BCM commands the instrument cluster to control the indicator only when the ignition switch is OFF. The CTD System uses the SECURITY indicator to identify system status.
It's software , a program inside the BCM ! An you can't just replace the BCM , it needs programming ! The dealer is the place to have that done ,most of the time ! If there is a SECRUITY light lit on the dash ,there is a DTC - diagnostic trouble code stored in the BCM , this code will point the service technician in the diagnostic path !
