Question about 2005 Dodge Magnum

1 Answer

Starter???? 2006 Magnum

Tried to start the vehicle, it cranked ... started for a second...then cut right off....eventually the vehicle would not crank at all ... no ticking ...nothing...but the radio, power windows, lights, ac, everything else functioned noramally...full blast...all at the same time....is this the starter...? if so, where is it located on the vehicle (lower driver side on the front of the engine?)
Car was also due for tune up...90,000 miles

Thank you in advance for the advice and help

i do have a seperate security system with a kill switch, so your suggestion seems very logical. I have had that problem in instances before the alarm so i will test with the spare key to see if i can at least get the car to turn over for me.... again, I thank you for your help and will update you on the outcome.

It sounds like your security system is causing this. Does the red security light flash when this happens? It could be an incorrect key or defective key The key has a chip in it .The wrong key or defective key will cause this. It may have to go to a dealer to program or test your key.

2005 dodge magnum v6 3.5L no crank no start checked battery, relay box and all fuses. still nothing. how do i get to the starter? top of vehicle

Not from the top. And it's no fun getting out of the bottom either. I would find the starter relay and check if it works there. Jump pins 30 and 87. Look at the bottom of the relay to see which ones. If it cranks over, Look to the neutral safety switch(inside the transmission) or security may have been set.

05 Dodge Magnum went from 60 - 0mph in 0.0 seconds flat!!!

Sounds like you need a new key to me. When they start and die like that, the security system is not seeing a good key. This has to be done at a Dodge or Chrysler dealership. They can cut a new key and fob combo their as well as program them with their scan tool. It will cost about $200.00 to do this. The two cranks to start is a weak fuel pressure regulator. Probably located on the the fuel pump. May be serviced seperate now from the fuel pump assembly. Ask the dealer they will know.

Tes fuel pressure and if your fuel pump is working; test battery charge, starter and solenoids.

2006 dodge magnum won't start and it's not the pcm. help? would a fuse cause this?

Could be one of many sensors. Have you tried a battery disconnect reset?

If not, remove the negative battery terminal and then depress the brake pedal for 30 45 seconds.

Then, reconnect and try to fire it up.

When you crank the motor, does the tach needle bounce or move at all? If not, could be either Camsahft or Crank sensor.

Need to pull trouble codes from the OBD II port and see if there are any. They could give you a direction to go in also.

Good luck.............Don

2006 sentra with 93,000 miles on it and it would not turn over yesterday. today was told the it cranks up fine. was told needs cam and crank sensors. does that sound right?

If starter was not engaging yesterday could be a starter or battery starting to go bad could have that problem again, cam and crank sensor will not stop the starter from turning the engine, the motor will not start up and just keep cranking.Hope this was very helpful.
