Transmission problems..... I own a 2005 chevy impala LS...just a couple of days ago its begun jerking when shifting gears, only after I have driven the car long enough to heat up...when its cold it doesn't ****. Anyone have any suggestions on what this could be and how to fix it? I am trying to conquer the problem now instead of waiting until it actually screws up my transmission for good!

I had the same problem at 52k had to replace the transmission, and GM would not pay a dime on becasue the 2005 transmission only had a 36k covrage. I rebulid the transmission cost 3500 dollars then keep a eye on the horn and power sterring pump. they car has had over 5000 in reparis out of pockit, noe they wonder why GM is going under

i have the same problem on my 2001 impala 3.8 it only jerks when it warms up not when its cold and only when it shifts.

my car does the same thing. It is fine when it warms up. We were told the trans had to be replaced. I called GM they said there was nothing they could do but they had worked it out with the dealership and we only have to pay half. Get a new trans if you have to replace it. The warranty is better. Not that I will keep my car that long. BTW I have also had problems withe security system, blower motor, relay for the heat and electrical problems.

I took my 01 impala to the shop and they checked it out and after 2 days they found out by mistake when they were changing the intake manifold gasket that 2 injectors had broken gaskets so air was escaping causing the cylinders to misfire. The reason the seals were broken was because the person installing the injectors did them incorrectly and cut gaskets after that everything was fine hope this helps good luck.

My 2005 chevy impala started jerking and then it wouldnt chnage gears unless i press the gas all the way to the floor is it the transmission?

no on 05 chevy the transmisson shift is control by vacume look for a vacume line that is dry rooted or has come off start at the engine first then work the way down to the transmisson. a line off or dry rotted any where in the syastem will give you a hard shift sometiimes like a hard jerking motion when
shifting.

2005 impala LS with 3.8 eng. & 61290 miles. Transmission started shifting hard on 1st & 2nd gears, just out of nowhere. Is this a common problem on Chevys? Once on open high way vehicle runs...

two things: Pressure control solenoid first. Second issue is the valve body. These are common issues, but 9 times out of 10 its just the pressure control solenoid. Power steering, could have a leak, that causes air, which in turn causes noise or yes, a noisy pump.

I have a 2005 Impala with a 3800 V-6 auto trans. when I come to a stop ,it jerks one time when I take off.Can you help me figger out the problem?

The transmission has not geared it self all the way to first gear and is trying to start off in second, once the car starts to move it gears back down to first gear which gives you the jerking motion you feel. Easy fix, the shift solenoid may be stuck due to dirt in the fluid and the transmission needs to be serviced, and or the solenoid may need to be replaced and the boost valve. Have the transmission serviced and have them check the transmission line pressure which would indicate if the boost valve is worn and the solenoid is getting stuck or check valve. Good luck and this should cost you around $150.00 in total so call around.

Where do i find the shift solenoid on an 05 impala ls with a 3.8? car shifts hard when stopped at light and go to take off. like its in to high of a gear and then slams and jerks into 1st. however it...

all of the shifting solenoids are in side the tranny, by the sounds of if you might be able to try a service on the tranny, new filter and fluid might help alot. try that first before spending alot of money.

2003 Chevy Impala transmission

Did you have it serviced or rebuilt, If you had it rebuilt I would take it back to the trans shop for warranty repairs.
If they just changed the trans filter I don't think it would cause your problem. You just have bad luck with the slipping trans
