Question about 1998 Volvo S70

1 Answer

Brake vibration problem

I have a 1998 Volvo S70 GLT with about 75000 miles. The problem occurred recently that when step on the brake, the entire body of the car vibrates so hard that your teeth is about to fall off.
I replace all 4 wheels with brand new brake pads and brand new brake discs. The disc are Brembo. Front brake pad is Euro ceramic. Rear is standard Volvo OEM. I also flushed the entire system with full synthetic brake fluid DOT 4. The problem still exists, usually after driving a few miles, not when it is cold. I torque all wheel properly (81 lbs) with a torque wrench. What else can go wrong with it? I cannot think of anything. Please help.

I have a similar problem with my V70 T5 and its driving me nuts. Ive had 2 sets of front discs on and have changed the tyres all roundf and still its there. I too have uprated pads on the front so maybe its the pads that are the problem? Revert back to Volvo standard parts?

Could be a bad outer tie rod end or lower ball joint on the front suspension, to check jack up wheel (suspension supported) grasp tire and move back and forth, if you feel loosness you have a worn component. if there is no looseness then you have either an bad wheel bearing (excessive runnout) or defective rotors

did you replace All discs front and rear? if not , replace the ones that you previously didnt

Same problem

Could be rust or brake dust on the rotors causing vibration. But check the suspension bushings as they could be the cause of the noise and vibration.

Check, visually for brake pad contamination. Especially inboard brake pad/ Any fluid leakage should be visible through holes in wheel or on the backside of wheel. If no leak or contamination abs can be in question as suggested.

Steering wheel vibrations

It could be worn starting parts, Not ballanced wheel, and broken or worn struts. Start with the wheel getting ballance and go from there if there was no problems before your got the new tires put on.
