Check fuses, if all are good you will have to replace radio. Replacing a radio is quite easy if you use an adaptor from Circuit City for instance, or know your way around a voltmeter. If you can't get either it would be better to have a store/shop put one in for you.

You may not need an adapter kit for your radio,I didn't. Unless you are going to replace with a stock radio you may have some problems with a new non stock radio. Depending if you have a Bose or a Clarion system in your car. This is not as simple as just replacing the head unit, much more is involved.
The first thing to do is to buy a new wiring harness for the head unit. Go to Crutchflied for the proper
components and any other items that you may need.

International truck radio has power, but doesn't work.

You state that it's a 93 Nissan Maxima but then you say it's an international truck radio. I would assume if it has power, you either do not have the speakers hooked up correctly or the Amplifier is no good.

It is most likely the solenoid contacts that are getting bad. You can sometimes have an auto electric shop fix your starter for a reasonable price.
