You probably need a new motor , but first you need to test to make sure . Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? Go on you tube an check out a few videos on basic electrical trouble shooting .You mite even find a video on sunroof diagnostics . 2005 Saturn Vue sunroof repair check fuse or circuit breaker first , the check power at the switch etc... I know a Saturn is no gmc jimmy but it is a GM product , an this may give you some ideas .
just pull it. Try wiggling it back and forth a little bit. If it seems like its not going to work, shoot just a touch of WD40 in there. WD40 is a non conductor and wont hurt electronics. It actually says that on the can. Let that sit for a minute and try again.
to reset any window open it half way down then let it fully close and hold the button up for about 10 seconds. do this mithod to all auto windows encloding the sunroof . afterall try them from the driver side
sometimes you have to push button to obtain 1st position and to push and hold button again for open position , need more info ; manual should be clear on operation,. you can also call saturn sales or service they will usually answer a simple question . if your sunroof was used alot may be mechanical problem , need more info
Fuse blown - look for the one with the key symbol it powers windows/locks/interior lights/sunroof operation. Then work out why it blows...could be anything on the circuit so check a lock isn't sticking on/off when operating the central locking.
Some customers may comment that the sunroof will no longer respond to the control switch while in a vented, partially opened, or fully opened position.
A software issue with the sunroof control module may cause the sunroof control module to incorrectly indicate a "closed" position, which may result in no power to the sunroof motor.
Verify the customer concern. If a condition is present, replace the sunroof control module with a new sunroof control module, P/N 15847643. Refer to the Service Procedure in this bulletin.
Verify the customer concern by opening and closing the sunroof.
If the sunroof will not open , check the power windows.
If the power windows are also inoperative, check the fuse. If the fuse has opened, refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 05-08-64-004 to install 30A circuit breaker.
If the power windows are fully functional, refer to "Power Sunroof Inoperative" diagnostics (SI Document ID# 1392967) in the Body section of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox or Saturn VUE Service Manual.
If the sunroof will open (or is already open), but will not close , proceed to Step 2.
Replace the sunroof control module. Refer to "Sunroof Control Module Replacement" procedure in the Body section of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Service Manual (SI Document ID# 1196049) or Saturn VUE Service Manual (SI Document ID# 1710479).
Open and close the sunroof in order to confirm that the customer concern has been resolved.
