Question about 2000 Renault 181
The engine suddenly Raced so high the Rev counter went off the clock. White smoke, steam what ever, covered the road. The keys were removed but engine still did not stop. Eventually selected 4 th Gear and slowly released clutch. Engine finally stopped. Hot oil all over the engine (and Me) Returned to the garage, which I had just left after FULL service 6 miles only driven. after 2 days they state nothingt wrong with the service??/ it is a known fault with the 1.9 TDI that they ingest their own oil under certain conditions, (what ever they are). Has any one heard this about other 1.9 DTIs
Sounds to me like the turbo seals have gone and it has started to run on it's own engine oil. We have come accross this problem lots of times and 1.9dti and dci engines are bad for this. Only way to stop engine completely blowing up is to stall it as you did.

Sounds to me like the shoppe knocked and or broke a connector to one or more sensor(s), while being serviced. i would have a "little chat" with the manager, and have them fix or replace what ever it is they did to cause this.
most engines will "ingest there own oil" under high r.p.m.s
