I have been told that you need to take the upper/lower ball joints off to remove the whole spindle assy. Good Luck, I have the same problem.

How long to replace CV joint outer boot 2001 Sonata V6 please?

The CV-boot has C-clips inside the boot they must be released befor the boot will come apart. It would be very hard to tell you how to do it on this page. I would not recommend doing this if you do not know what you are doing, as this requires dissassembly of the front brake and suspension system. You really need a repair manual on how to fix CV-joints. raise the front end and support with stands, remove wheel, remove axle nut, remove bolt that attaches bottome of strut to control arm remove lower ball joint bolt smack the knuckle where the ball joint is to remove and flip the knuckle out of the way, use pry bar to pop halfshaft out of ******. while installing new one make sure the splines line up and it pops in place installation reverse of removal

How do I replace just the left front cv boot on a 2002 pt crusier?

The real way to do it is to replace the front half axle, the boot goes on during assembly and there is no way to take it apart, put on a new boot, and reassemble it which is cheaper than just buying a new half axle. They also come in rebuilts which is the way to go on a car that old.

However if you have access to a lift and some time on your hands go to autozone and buy one of each size generic CV replacement boot kits. That way when you have the rest of the old one off, you can decide which kit to use and return the other one(s).

Follow the instructions, cleanliness is the basis of getting the glue to work.

On the right front wheel the cv boot came apart and I am wondering what the process is to change out the half shaft and or is it possible to repack and put on a new boot?I am working on a 2003 Subrau...

They make what's called a split boot. If your car will go through tough inspection they may not pass, but they are easier to replace than the half-shaft and should last as long as the cv joint.

How do I replace cv boot on a buick park ave

The boot you need to replace is call OUTER CV BOOT.

The quickest way to inspect is to drive it in low speed (UNDER 10 mph) tight left and right turns.

If you hear clicking sound then the CV shaft is bad.

It's also depending on how long the CV boot been crack.

If you decide to go ahead on the job then please observe safety and use jack stands to fully support the front end.

Remove wheel, cotter pin, retainer cap and larger axle nut.

Make alignments markings on the strut tower and steering mount so your front end will able to put back to alignment.

You will need an able body to do the following.

Remove the large lower strut bolts and swing the strut off the CV.

DO NOT ROCK THE CAR!!!

Clean off the outer CV.

Install boot, grease and the two bands.

Line up the strut and steering yoke marks

repack bearings,lock nut,cap,cotter pin,wheel.

Drive the car in low speed for 1 miles with tight turns.

Do a quick inspection to make sure the CV boot is sitting perfectly on the CV.

I have a 1999 isuzu 4wd rodeo 6 cylinder and was wondering if Need to install a new boot kit or if I need to replace the entire front left cv axle shaft. I had a tear in my rubber boot and noted some...

Do not try to get the cv axle out ot the axle housing. It is a major operation. Remove boot and disconnect the inner cv joint and save about five hours of time. The choice is yours ,boot or reman cv axle. You will need to take the reman. axle apart to install it though and some new clamps. Not a simple operation.

My huband is trying to replace the boot on the Cv axle in my 05 Honda Pilot. The problem he is having is getting the axle apart so he can get the new boot on. Any ideas?

You should be replacing the CV shaft not just the boot. Dirt entering the split boot will cause failure shortly after boot replacement only.
