Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
I have a 2003 chevy slverado ext.cab 4X4.i recently put in a k&n air filter and cut three holes in the airbox top. I was trying to decide on a cold air intake. The truvk feels sluggish with the holes untaped but runs better when the are coverd up.I even bought a hypertech max energy programmer that I love but still if I remove the tape from the holes in the air box it still runs sluggish.it also did this before I ever touched it. any help would be nice! my dealer just shook his head.it shows no codes., Allen
You have upset the air flow meter You need to replace the air box lid.the flow of air past the airflow meter must be comsistant and surge free.the factory match the flow of air to the afm and they are like siamese twins, they are a matched pair.If you return the air box and rest of air intake to factory parts your problem will go away.Im sure these problems began to appear when you started changing parts and cutting holes.Good luck
