How often should the timing belt be changed in a SAAB 9000 CD
Do not drive it until it brakes.you will swallow a valve and say good by to that engine.miker

Drive it to it breaks. Do it when u want to do your head gasket

SAAB manuals recommend replacing the chain if the chain tensioner is extended more than 11mm.

Your Saab does not have a timing belt, it has a chain. You need to remove the chain tensioner and see how much it has extended. If it has plenty yet to go, your chain is fine to go more miles. If it is fully extended or nearly so, you are on borrowed time.
