Question about Cadillac Seville
Typically in order to remove the actual handle from the door, you must first remove the door panel. When removing the panel, at first do not disconnect your window switches, as you will need to roll up the window in order to accsess the door latch. Once the window is up and all of the door panel compnents are removed, you will likely see a plastic cover of some sort that seperates the door panel from the metal part of the door. You will also need to remove this. Afterwards there should be room enough to look inside the door and see the door latch from the inside. There should be a couple of screws/ bolts holding the assembly together. There will be a series of rods that connect to the latch. The mechanism the opens the door from the outside connects to these rods with a plastic clip. You will likely need to replace that clip to solve the problem. This is a fairly easy task, however, due to the confined space, it will be time consuming.

Broken linkage connecter at handle or latch, you have to remove the door panel for access. It is possible the actaul handle is broken where the linkage attaches.

The push rod from the outer handle to the lock/latch came off the door handle. You need to pop off the door panel (get a panel tool set at the auto parts store) and you'll be able to see into lock area and you'll see a rod with a "L" doing nothing. Put it back in the hole on the lock/latch and snap the keeper back on(it's probably in the bottom of the door)if no keeper, you can get one at a good auto parts store.

using small hook tools and tack pullers shaped like mini wonder bars, you can remove the door panel. once removed, you can fish around on the bottom middle of the door and pull the cable to unlatch the door.

SOURCE: How do you fix the
the outer handle is connected to the lock with a steel rod. If the outer handle has broken or the clip that holds the rod onto that handle has broken, then thats what you need to replace. You will need to remove the inside door trim to access the locks and rods. Remove the door trim as best you can if you are unable to open the door at all and reach into the door to access the inner door lock rod. Pulling or pushing the rod should allow you to open the door and remove the trim completely.
If there is no obvious damage to the outer door lock, check where the outer door handle rod connects to the lock itself as the clips holding the rods in place can fail. If the clips have failed, replace them with new clips from the vehicle manufacturer..
